Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a good day and I thank you for dropping in. I filed bankruptucy in 2019 and was discharged in september 2019. Since then, I have only had a vehicle loan. I've had that for six months. Last night I was approved for quick silver one card for $3000. I wasn't expecting it cause I burnt them in BK. I'm wanting to get a second card to help build my credit profile. My plan is to get just a couple cards and leave it at that. I don't care about credit limits or bells and whistles. I just want them for the purpose of building my credit. I burnt about all major companys in BK except for Bank Of America. I had them before and didn't use them a lot, but never did have a late payment with them. They closed my account shortly before I filed bankruptcy. I guess they seen I wasn't using it and was getting behind on my others so they shut me down. I had them for around 2 years and never had any issues with them. I just did their pre-qualification on their website and they recomend me the BOA cash rewards card. I don't know my real scores. Experian says its around 600 and according to creditkarma my equifax and transunion are 673 and 686 but I know thats probably not my real fico scores. Do you guys think I have a good chance at approval or no chance ?
Hi @workingprogress , BoA prequals are just marketing, unless you see them in your BoA account with a solid APR.
Have you tried Discover Prequalify webpage?
Here are some others:
GL2U
I would hold off for three reasons:
1 - BoA doesn't tend to approve scores in that range from what I've seen, unless they have a secured card? Also, the recent BK may make it tough - usually things open up more two years out, as there are posts from others about having more options beyond two years.
2 - they closed down your account in the past. You may want to ask for a reason before taking HPs.
3 - their prequal is beyond worthless. Try it again with your cat's name and I bet he gets a prequal.
Which banks did you burn? Maybe we can help you pick one by knowing who lost money in the past. Also, look into a local CU to get in with - they can be strong allies when big banks are gun-shy.
Okay thank you for chiming in. You just saved me a hard pull.
Thank you bud. I look into that link.

Just noticed, I didn't answer part of your question. I burnt discover, penfed, americanexpress, barclay, chase, citi and dcu. Since i burnt them all i don't know what to get as a second card. Recomendations sure would be nice. I just don't know.
@workingprogress, I would suggest two things in your case:
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Do you have any military affiliation personally or through family? If so, Navy would be my first suggestion.
