Hey All,
I'd like to apply for an Apple Card but heard CC companies sometimes pull your score from the previous month when making decisions, and am wondering about the best timing to apply to get the highest SL so my ultization isn't high when I make a purchase. Last month I EE a CO on TU and my fico 8 score went from 686 to 793. So Jan 1st my score was 686 then updated on Jan 7th to 793 when the derogatory account was deleted. If I apply now, will GS pull my score right now or from Jan 1st?
First question is do you frequently check for apple preapproval? If so then they will have old scores that they might or might not use.
If you have never checked for a preapproval then they have no way of having access to previous scores/reports and can only see what is on your reports at the time of the inquiry.
Using a pull from a previous month would be used to in some way service an account with an existing FI, such as a CLI request. When you apply for new credit with a FI you do not yet have a relationship with, they will pull your credit report at the time you apply. There are exceptions to this such as if you're already a cardholder to a certain FI and you apply for an additional card, they may use an existing score. When you submit a new Apple Card app, GS pulls your TU FICO 9 score right then and there.
@dragontears yes I applied once in Oct but didn't accept the offer.
October was almost 4 months ago, even "lazy" lenders don't use scores from more than a quarter ago so most likely it will be a fresh pull.
Approved for $4,000 SL 15.99% apr! Slightly disappointed in the SL since I've seen people with similar scores get 5-6k and my TU is completely clean, but I'll take it.
As the OP has indicated they've been approved, this thread is now locked to new messages.
