Easiest AMEX Card

My wife and I are looking to get into the Amex family.  She has a way better credit report than I do but only about 2 years established.  Which is the easiest Amex card to get?  What would be the min scores and what do they look for?  Thank you!

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

Delta Gold or Amex Hilton appear to be the easiest cards to be approved for based on what I have seen on MyFico and from my own experience. If your profile isn't strong you will have a very small CL like $1k-$2k but if you just want your foot in the door..... it's enough. I've seen scores as low as 630-650 approved for an AMEX. It seems since they lost the Costco and JetBlue contracts they have been approving applications they may have not even considered a year or two ago.

I was approved for the Amex Hilton in April 2016 and my Experian was a 679 at the time and I had one collections account reporting and a 90 day late student loan payment from 2013. My CL is only $1.4k but the bonus was 75k points and I only had to spend $1k. I'm waiting for my 61 day so I can apply for a CLI.

Good luck on your application. Please report back if you do end up applying.

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

We just applied for her and she was approved for the dealta gold with starting limit of 1000.  I think I might try for the hilton now.  Do you think they would approve her for a hilton as well?

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

You Can Only Apply For one credit card and one Ccharge card in the same day. If she applies for a second credit card today... her application will go into a pending status until 5 business days have passed.

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

Congrats to the both of you! I am not well versed enough to recommend an AMEX charge card. Hopefully someone else with more experience can chime in......

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

They kinda did based on the $1k limit and only get a charge if it's actually useful to you. No need to keep adding cards just for the sake of it. If you're approved for $1k you just squeaked by. Congrats though

Re: Easiest AMEX Card

Well, the lowest limit for amex is 500.  I have been turned down for a few inquires.  Most banks have turned me down for 10.  I had close to 100 and instant approval.
