The good thing, if you decided to try it just to test things out, it's still SP and it doesn't reset the CLI elegibility clock.

Understood. Thanks for clarifying that. No need for me to try sooner than 6 months, as the EO person I spoke with basically said that the 1 year mark is where Citi begins to feel comfortable with your history and my most favorable result would likely come after that point, not before.
I disagree completely. I've had the best of luck calling the EO. It is nice also getting a thank you note in addition to a letter and phone call. The nice part about calling the EO is you will be able to circumvent the online time limits. Now that doesn't mean you should forgo the 6 month thing. But I've had family members get a diamond preferred and just instantly reach out and get the limit they need.
I was approved last year for a measly 1k increase from 15k to 16k. Prior to that my card had a starting limit of 2300, I was double pulled for the approval so did the hp increase not knowing about the EO. I had much better luck with just a regular phone rep! I think 3 months in I got it to 3800. it was after 6 months I got my card increased to 10k via EO after asking for 15k. Then at 1 yr mark I asked for 20k and got 15k.
I just requested more online, and got 2.5k increase. To be honest my gut says I should just phone in like I usually do. I feel like by phoning in I am less likely to get a HP. Yep. I will call in or just skip the whole thing altogether and take my freebie :-)
jfriend33,
In your above post, you mention both talking to the EO for CLI requests as well as just a "regular phone rep." I'm not sure it's clear where/when you feel you've had the most success (in terms of which you spoke with) but it is clear you feel the phone is the best means. If you could clarify that a bit more, that would be great. Also, do you have any tips when doing a CLI request through the EO?
