Experienced Amex members....does Amex even do this?! I need help!

Okay so a couple of days ago I got approved for the Amex Blue Cash and the Amex Hilton Honors Surpass now my question is regarding how Amex works since I am now a fresh new member.

So the situation is this, I travel alot and already am a Hilton Honors member and stay at Hilton hotels 100% of the time so this card is very useful for me, unfortunately I was only approved for a SL of $1,000 the offer on this is 100k Hilton Honors Points which is pretty good but In order to recieve this offer I need to spend $3,000 in the first 3 months.

Now this is somewhat challenging given my situation that when I put all my bills on this card it is difficult to pay off $1,000 a month instead of having a higher limit and have the freedom to carry a balance as long as I do spend the required $3,000 in the first 3 months to recieve the sign up bonus.

My question is do you guys think that Amex would be understanding in my situation and maybe consider giving me a higher credit limit of at least $2,000 to make it easier for me to reach the required 3k in 3 months for the 100k points? If you so what would be the appropriate recon/analyst number to call to ask for a credit limit increase even though I just got approved yesterday and will recieve my card expedited according to the email from Amex ( which they also gave me the full card info exp temp cid and number) in about 2 days or even tomorrow!

Thanks guys

You more than likely stuck on that limit for now.

Talking to AMEX the other day actually, regarding the same card, the lady told me that they need to see over $1k or close to $1k of spend on the card per statement period to trigger them to review the account and give you a higher CLI. Might be different for everyone, but that is what SHE told ME.

In your case, and if you have your funds available in your checking account at all times, It's really not dificult to do if you pay the current balance as soon as the charge posts.  This is what i do on all of my cards below.  I'm unable to do this for Hilton at the moment because i'm putting my spending on other cards.

You could wait the 30, 60, 90 days and try the CLI yourself.

Thanks for the reply hey you wouldn't happen to know what the Amex "secret" sweet spot to double to CL I think I have seen something like that on here but it was a really weird number like wait for the 26th day of the month or 7 months or 64th day or something to that extent. Anybody that could give me some insight on this would be appreciated. Thanks

I asked for 3x increase at 5 weeks and was approved.  If not just make multiple payments a month. Do once a week and you can easily make the spending limit.

Yeah I figured I could treat it as the rest of my cards where I spend and next day make a payment I'm also asking my gf to help out since she wants to buy an iPad Pro I told her to use my card then have her pay the balance for that purchase

The great thing about AMEX, is that when you make a payment on a balance, a few hours later it will show as available credit.  No need to worry until the payment actually comes out of your checking account.

This works for all Amex right for example I got approved for both the BCE and Hilton Surpass on the same day , so would it be a good idea or bad idea to request 3X in 61 days for both ?

You can only request a CLI on one at a time, so plan accordingly.
