I think I've read here that $25k is as high as they'll go, at least without a HP.
I've been sitting at $25k since 7/17/23, so I figured I'd call and ask for an increase, for science ![]()
I asked for $30k. It went to review.
I expect that they'll tell me they couldn't approve an increase because my credit reports are locked. We'll see.

"Your credit history could not be verified due to a credit report freeze
If you would like us to consider your application, please take the following steps: . . . "
Pretty much what I expected.

I suppose this is sort of a half data point. If you were to lift the freeze and proceed, allowing them to take a HP, would your limit be bumped up to $30k? I suppose we'll never know...

$25k is way more than I realistically need, so it's not worth a HP for me to find out.
I have a couple of $30k+ cards now, but at my income level - I claim $84k income but would have a hard time proving more than about 72k, I'm still a little surprised that anyone gives me a $20k+ limit. (Highest CC CLs are 33k, 31.4k, 25k, 25k, 18.9k . . . and a bunch in the teens, where I figure I belong. 20+ still shocks me when I get one.) That 25k Evergreen was my highest CL for a long time. Now that I have another one equal and a couple that are higher, I figured I'd ask just to see what happens.
If I was going to try it with a HP, I'd wait until my utilization was lower so I'd have a better shot.

Do you pay your statement balances in full monthly? If so, utilization doesn't matter much if at all. If not, absolutely lowering it would be beneficial since carried balances are seen as an elevated risk.
A single HP doesn't matter much if a CLI is what you want. In 365 days the impact from the HP is gone, but the limit that you wanted remains. Several years back I took not one, but two HPs on a single card to get the limit to where I wanted. Those HPs are long gone, and I've still got that increased limit. Mission accomplished.
