Got preapproved for the Evergreen card, applied then denied so waited until letter came and it said because of suspected fraud. It also said that the info used was from another service other than the credit bureaus. I called in and the rep said that the application was flagged because of IP address. I did use my phone for the app but I thought this was odd. He said even if I did another application from my laptop the problem could still pop up with the IP. I do not have any fraud alerts on my reports that I am aware of and have never gotten this response before with any other app. Has this happened to anyone before? The letter also did not state what company they used for the decision, just an address for FNBO I could write to if I wanted to get the reason. Thanks

I am sorry about your denial. They did the exact same thing to me. I applied on their web site for the evergreen card and was pre approved for $15,000. I then went through the final process and DENIED. I would have never have applied if not for the bait and switch tactic.
My letter arrived and said I was declined for too many inquries and too many newly opened accounts. So why would they pre approve me just 5 minutes earlier? Needless to say I am not a happy camper.
FICO scores hover around 780

Yes I had many new inquries and new credit cards, but that they saw when they offered me the pre approval as well. I do not have a banking relationship with this bank so that could really be it. But I will never know.
Thanks
Mark

I'm not quite sure I understand how is pre-approval bait and switch?
You met basic screening criteria for which is all any pre-approval is, decision is always made once your profile is evaluated.
Pre-approvals done via lender websites and aggregators like Card Match aren't firm offers of credit, it's not even a handshake, it's barely "hello"
You were denied for something like 20 new accounts, and that's an understandable denial.

Were you using VPN by any chance?
I've been locked out of my BECU account once because I tried logging in while using VPN, and I actually had to go to the branch before accounts were released.
Mobile providers and location sometimes fail miserably, I've seen my IP be about 150 miles from where I was at the time.
I am not sure how FNBO would handle it, you can call and find out if they would be willing to accept documents proving identity. If they are and you're willing to send them, that's one way to do it and it's the only way that I can think of.
I do remember two other members with this same issue, both applied while on mobile, one did use VPN, and the other one never answered question if they did or did not.

Just to add to the above @Anonymous, FNBO's online portal only yields pre-qualification offers, not pre-approved ones.
Typically, prequalified offers are based on limited details about your credit profile and the information you provide. Once you submit the application, then that's when FNBO will determine whether you qualify to be approved or not. There's no bait and switch tactics since the pre-qualification offers are never 100% guaranteed. Plenty of data points for both the personal and business versions of this particular card.

OP said they were using a smartphone, but if they were using cellular data or were away from home connecting via WiFi they would be the same basic issue - the geolocator could place them as being miles away from their home address.
BBVA used to use something similar when applying for one of their credit cards online but they would first screen and reject before processing the application and making a hard pull.

I did not use VPN just my phone with home WIFI. I will call in and talk with another Rep and ask them to give me the company's info that they used for the rejection.
