For which card should I request an AMEX CLI?

Hello there!

Looking for advice...I'd been in the garden prior to my most recent card acquisition, so I'd forgotten that I was eligible for a CLI request through AMEX.  I currently have 3 cards with them:

Gold- NPSL $10 balance (waiting for my dining credit, then it will be $0)

HH- $1500 SL, $0 balance

BCE- $24,000 SL, $0 balance

Income is $100,000+

I know I can request 3x on the HH and if approved, be at $4,500.  Would there be a good reason to ask for more on the BCE?  Should I?  I really don't put that much spend on it and I only want the CLI to pad available credit to help with raising my Fico scores.  I'm planning to PC my CSP to CSR and I'd like Chase to see a pretty big SL as I'm hoping they'll not only PC the card, but offer a CLI as well.

Am I thinking about this the wrong way?  Is there something I should consider that I'm missing?  It's been a long day and I'm not thinking straight, but I don't want to make any dumb moves.

Re: For which card should I request an AMEX CLI?

simple answer is to ask for a 3x on the HH. a CLI on the BCE might put you in a position where they ask for income verification. it's already a decent CL, if you dont spend that much each month, no point in asking for more on the BCE. amex also let you move CL around as you see fit. you can do it yourself in the dashboard. you could potentially move some from the BCE over to the HH and then ask for a 3x...

I would request it on BCE, not exactly 3x, but more around $35K-$40K.  If IV is requested, use your back browser button to exit and request a lower amount (reduce it by $1K each time as needed).

If successful, you can reallocate a desirable CL amount from BCE to HH.

Then, in 181 days, request a CLI on HH.

I can say that the BCE is on the edge for a income check. Realistically how much do you really spend on groceries that you need more credit there. I do have two ideas for you.

1. Get the 3x CLi on the HH and be done with it.

2. Transfer some CL from the BCE to the HH and then do a 3x CLi based on the new CL preferably not going past 25k when you are done as that is an income check. When finished you can transfer back the CL to the BCE if you want.

Chase does not do any CLi's without a HP. If you want to rise your limit you have to feed the machine. If you PC remember you do not qualify for any offers but you keep your history. This means that the CSR's $550 AF will hit you immediately with no points possible to offset it.

What kind of CL are you hoping to have? I'd request on the BCE and then shift CL over to the HH. I'd try 50k and then if you get income verification, up to you if you want to do that or back out and try a different number. Lots of DP of people getting approved 35k+ without income verification.

Personally, I would request CLI on BCE. Amex might ask for POI doing this, but I think it would be worth it for 3x. Then, transfer some of that BCE CL to HH.

This is exactly what I would do. 3xCLI on BCE and move some of the limit over to the HH.

Re: For which card should I request an AMEX CLI?

I'll chime in and agree with Finstar's strategy. If your profile supports it, you're looking at $35K or more to split between both cards.

As opposed to only getting $4,500. Then in another 181 days you can increas it even more.

Although as someone else mentioned in another thread, how high of a CL does one need on aHH card. lol

I would move $4000 from the BCE to the HH.

I would then ask for a 3x CLI on the HH which would be $5.5x3=$16.5k

At that point you're free to move your credit between the cards as you see fit.

Good luck!
