Frustrated with Barclays!

So I have had a BC Rewards for 1 year. Has a 6.5k CL.  Zero balance. 2 months ago I applied for the Arrival plus and was given the Arrival instead with a $1500 CL. I tried to PC to the plus but was denied. CSR suggested I close and that he would transfer my 1.5 k CL to my Rewards. He suggested I re-apply for the Arr Plus in 2 mo. I did and was declined.  I have tried to recon 4 times but have been denied due to too many new open accts/inq. Any suggestions. I actually considered ending my relationship with Barclays. One more thing my wife was approved for the Arr Plus and I am an AU on her acct!   My UT is 5%. 145k total CL. TU 690-700.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

2 months ago I applied for the Arrival plus and was given the Arrival instead with a $1500 CL - Not sure I understand how this happpened. Arrival+ and Arrival are two separate cards and I dont recall seeing anything about being offered Arrival if not approved for Arrival+ when I applied last week. I recall seeing that not everyone may qualify for WEMC but thats it.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

It was an error on their part and what was even more weird is that I never got hit with an HP. Needless to say I am no longer happy with Barclays.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

Wow. I would think they could simply convert it to the correct card if it was their error. Sorry to hear that. :/ Not sure what can be done in this situation after four recon attempts. I hope someone else can chime in with experience.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

Every time is see a topic title like this, and there has been way too many of these over my time on MyFico that the first thought to quickly run thru my mind is "Now What The Heck Did They Do To Disturb Yet Another Customer". Then as usual some certain pundits make a beeline to rush right into these threads in haste with that often predetermined mind hammering that it was something that you done to spook them. Bahhh.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

Sorry, i'm just saying that Barclays seems to always manage a way to fudge things up for it's customers at the most inopportune time causing these type frustrations that needed not have happened in the first place if they would just get their act together.

Re: Frustrated with Barclays!

I guess spending 10k on my rewards card over the past year and then paying my full balance each and every month must have spooked them bad! Tired of lenders whose approval policies are not uniform and are all over the place.

I'm sorry to hear that happened, morgacj. Are they correct about too many new accounts? If so, 2 months was a bit too soon to reapply. Most times Barclay does not issue more new cards that close together, especially if you have a lot of other new accounts opened. I know it's frustrating, but you are a fairly new Barclay customer. Maybe wait 9 months and try again.

Here is insight into possibly why you did not get a hard pull: Barclay's told me that for current customers, they will do that at times to avoid the current customer having a hard hit on their credit - if the customer is already at the overall credit exposure Barclay's feels comfortable extending and at that point they don't wish to extend any more.

That may or may not be the case, but it's what they told me. I know you have managed your credit well for a year, but to many creditors, a customer of a year is still a newer customer. The lack of a hard hit was a plus even though you are understandably frustrated with them right now.
