Although I'm going to do my best to garden the next few months, I do have a question about geofencing and apps.
Soon after my DC in 2021, I had heard that the TD Secured card graduates relatively quickly so I applied. Since I was outside their service area, I applied using my family home in NY. I am in CA but also spend time there. I was approved and funded the account in person shortly after when I was near a TD Bank within their service area. The card was sent to the family home and my mom forwarded it to me. Since then, I changed my address to California and they had no problem sending my second TD Card to the Cali address. I really like how easy it is to work wifh TD. The only hitch was having to fund the account in person but, since I travel so much for work, it wasn't really a problem for me.
After my gardening phase ends, I am interested in one of the Truist cards. I cannot apply with a Cali address as Truist is geofenced. However, my family has another place in Florida at which my brother currently resides. That address has shown up on some of my reports in the past. I tried the Truist pre-qual page, and was pre-qualed for 5 cards. I'm only interested in the basic CashBack card. I realize that, if I am approved, Truist would send the card to the Florida address. In this era of e-statments and e-documents, I would imagine that changing the address to Cali would not prove to be an inconvenience, but I am wondering how Truist would handle it. I know TD Bank was cool about it. Would this raise any red flags with Truist? Are there any easier options?
Curious why want truist card. They are nothing special imho. I do have one, but kinda regret it as get like $5 spend every 6 months to keep it alive. With regards to address and truist I don't know how they would handle it, maybe other people can chime in. Certainly can fly down and apply in person and they would be fine with it in branch, just like "most" other geofenced banks.
I agree the card is nothing special Truist or their cards and adding newer addresses on your report you may run into verfication problems down the line . I don't think that card is worth the hassle .

Thanks, everyone. Crossing Truist off the list.
If I am understanding the Truist credit card your applying for correctly it pays 3% on gas.
In your siggy you have a Kinecta My Perks Rewards MC. According to the web site it pays 3% for gas.

@AndySoCal Thanks! Gas isn't really a huge issue for me. I only fill up my car once every 4-5 weeks,
. Work, gym and shopping are all very close to where I live. I was looking at their cards just to establish a relationship with a new bank that I can build CLs with.
I can't yet apply to Chase because I filed CH 13 in 2017 and I have about a year and some months to go. I IIB FNBO, and not sure if they are forgiving. This is my signal to garden, I guess. I do recall having a Visa many years ago with one of Truist's predecessor banks when I lived in South Beach as I remember paying my bill directly at a local branch. I had a good account record. But don't remember when or why I closed it.
@Jeffster1 WOW you fill up one time every 4/5 weeks .... i am super jealous ![]()

Yup. Everything is nearby. Work, shopping, gym, entertainment. I figure I save at least $300 a month over what I would be paying if it were a more "normal" situation living elsewhere and driving the average 12k miles a year for California drivers.
I really love where I live, and this is just another bonus.
