Getting back with Amex

I have a CO Amex with date reported 04/2008 (according to my 2010 credit report) with a past due amount of $262. It does not show on my report now. How do I go about settling it with Amex as I want to get back with them after 6 months or so. I've been flying Delta more recently and could use their card.

First, you need to call them and make arrangements to pay off the $262.  After that you're just going to have to periodically apply but don't be shocked if it will take sometime for them to let you back in.

Will do tonight. It won't be shown on my credit report if I pay them the $262, right?

Re: Getting back with Amex

If it isn't reporting now, it won't come back and appear.  I have been worried about that with various accounts I have settled over the years aka reporting on some CB's and not on others and they never came back on the ones they weren't reporting on.. Should be good to go..  Ya but got to pay amex back to get back in typically..  For that small of an amount I would do, even it it does take time as it show a good gesture to them you want to make ammends with the debt you owe them

Re: Getting back with Amex

Just get your EXP score up to around 660ish and then go for The Delta.  Best of luck!  Least you got it payed off now and Amex will be alot more welcoming to you.. Least it was for a fairly small amount. I finally settled a Cap1 CO that Cap1 still owned from approx 4 years ago for 3.8k, that stung lol., but as you at least it is in my past now.

It's always good to learn from the past and think about the future. I am confident my EX can push through that level within the next few months. Could have had a nice vacay for 3.8K lol

Deffinetly could of but getting that cleaned off my reports I can get some more juicy signup bonuses and more than make up for that 3.8k in the long run and avoid a possible judgement as well Smiley Happy.. Was reporting every single month on 2 of my CB's, so was holding scores down for the CO and the balance and the monthly reporting.. Was a thron in my side.

Sure your scores will get the the magic mark for the Delta card soon enough, as said Best of luck!!

Re: Getting back with Amex

OP we definitely in the same boat. I supposedly "owe" them $620 and this was back from 2012. They deleted the CO from my CRs early last year but the balance is still sitting there with them. I sure wanna pay it off and get over with but I'm just concerned about them re-reporting the tradeline again. Right now I have squeaky clean reports across the board and just acquired a bunch of new accounts and I really don't wanna risk anything negative resurfacing outta no where. I'll be following this thread so please let us know what u decide then I'll know what course of action to take. Thanks
