No offense, JoshNurse, but you're focused entirely on the wrong thing when it comes to credit.

+1

I think that most can appreciate prime credit cards; however, to "cringe" and be "embarrassed" by the avenue which allowed you to move to greener pastures?  REALLY???  Disloyal and highly superficial...

I don't like it when people use labels/brand names to put others down, but we're all entitled to our own opinions (no matter how vile or vapid they may be).  Enjoy your precious cards!

Re: Getting rid of low-end cards.

who cares about credit getting hurt, you can't be seen with capital one card while you're partying your face off in dubai. Cancel the card a.s.a.p and if they ask why, you make sure tell them it's because their cards are so cheap and cardboard box look and feel to it. And be sure to apply for JP Morgan Palladium credit card, anything less isn't worthy of being in your fancy wallet.

I don't close any of my cards because things change and I might need them one day

Re: Getting rid of low-end cards.

I will forever be greatful to Capital One.  They got me started and took a chance on me.  Got me from 560 FICO to 672 in a matter of 6 months and that in turn helped me get my Amex/Barclay.  Don't care what others think when I whip it out. (the card!).
