Hello everyone,
I've a member of this community for a little while now, but haven't made any post in a while. But, I have been reading post here and there. I've definitely been using the knowledge and advice that I've been given from gurus like Creditaddict and Baller4life. As such, my scores are finally starting to show some real progress, although I still have a long way to go.
Anyway, my EX score is currently the highest, but even so, it's still just marginally good at 672. So, I was hoping to get a good BT CC for at least a about 4/5K, but even if not that much, anything would be pretty good.
I saw gilbertesc posted a very similar topic asking for BT CCs with an Experian CS of 660. I didn't want to highjack that thread, but I tried the pre qual for both Citi and Amex, and both said no. I saw someone said that the best odds are for CSs 680+, but I'm hoping that since mine is so close at 672 and I also have a decent annual salary of 90K, that I have good odds of getting one.
So long story short, can someone confirm that Citi and Amex pull from EX, since my other 2 scores are in the 650s? Also, do you think it's worth the INQ based on the odds? Lastly, if not, could someone recommend something else?
P.S. I'm a member of DFCU and they pull TU, and have already denied me any type of CC just last month. I was also a member of NASA CU for a while, but they denied my CC app about a year ago, maybe longer, and I believe have also recently closed my 1 savings account that I opened with just the $10 deposit, which was really just the member fee. If I have a good shot, I don't mind applying again, but not sure if that would work since I was a member and was let go due to inactivity.
Either way, I could really use some help and appreciate any positive or constructive feedback, thanks!
I actually have the QS 1 card, which doesn't have the AF and I believe is inferior in terms and perks compared to the QS. And since Cap 1 pulls all 3, I'm not sure what my chances are, but I doubt their very good for a VentureOne.
I just tried the pre qual on Cap 1 and they said they couldn't match me, but suggested the Platinum, QS 1, and a secured CC. Funny thing is I JUST got my $1.5K CC bumped up to 2.5K with them on my current QS 1 last month. I've had it for like a year or more now.
Either way, thanks for the tip and advice.

Doesn't Discover It have 0% for 18 right now? Citi Simplicity has 0% for 21 but is probably tougher to get than a Discover.
I just tried the pre qual for Discover and this is what I got. Not sure if it's an acutal offer or not, but did notice that it's only 12 months instead of 18. Do you think if I applied that it would change to 18, or would I be limited to the 12 shown. Also, is this even a "real" offer, or just more of a suggestion that they give when they couldn't pre qual?
Furthermore, assuming this is a pre qual, would it be better to go for the longshot with Citi for a chance at 22 months of 0% interest, or just go with this 1 with a better chance?
My train of thought is, if this is a real pre qual, then even if Citi denies me, I could still have a decent shot at the Discover, assuming my score doesn't drop from the INQs. But also, since I'm somewhat close to 680, at 672, that it might be better to try for a Citi, especially since my salary might make a difference.
Thoughts?
Edit: Just realized, I never said thank you, so thank you.

with an APR range of 11.24-23.24% if is NOT a true prequal just marketing
I also had a few questions about balance transfer cards, if someone wouldn't mind answering them.
1. If my BT CC has a limit of 3K, but I transfer a balance of more than 3k, like 5K, would it allow me to transfer up to the 3K, or would it be turned down outright since it has to be the complete balance on the account?
2. If I am going to max out the BT CC, and it has a fee for BTs, like 3%, is that even allowed, since any fee would take it past the CL? If so, do I get charged an over the limit fee or anything like that?
3. I know each CC has different terms and what not, but if I don't pay in full the balance on a BT CC within the promo period, like 15 months, etc. do they usually charge you the interest on what it originally was or on what's remaining? Say I had 3K to pay off in 15 months, but I 1K left after 15 months. Do I only get charged interest on the 1K or the original 3K. I ask, because I know paypal and Amazon do this on their promo's of 0% APR on purchases for 6 months and such.
Any help would be appreciated.

I feared as much, so thanks for confirming my suspicion. I thought it was just another suggestion, but since it didn't say sorry or it couldn't find any offers, I wasn't sure. Thank you for your help.
Well, I guess at this point, the only thing I can do is apply and see what happens. Might as well go for the Citi, since I like the terms more and neither seems to prequal me for anything anyway.
This sucks since I joined DFCU in the hopes of getting a decent CC since I heard such good things about it, but they wouldn't give me anything. This seems like jus the type of thing a CU would come in handy for, and I couldn't get any love from them. ![]()
