I recently attempted this with my cashRewards. Hit the max button and it went to manual review. Got a call this morning asking me to unfreeze my EQ. If I don't do that - No HP.
I would suggest all to put the bureaus on permanent ice (even prior to this whole Equifax nonsense I had done this). Allows you more control over the application process. You can identify which bureau(s) the lender wants to pull, and THEN determine if you want to incur the HP on that report. In instances like this - no need to depend on NFCU to cancel the HP - they literally are unable to do it.
Also - can anyone link me to the current NFCU CLI thread? I can only seem to find the locked one from 2016. Considering unfreezing EQ to allow the HP since recently got SP CLIs from both AMEX and Discover, if I can get my $2300 NFCU limit up, I'd be happy (might apply for navCheck with same HP as well)
Here is the thread

Here m8s some good inside nfo..... if u have eq on freeze, they will try to hp tu, if that one is locked to they will go for exp . it's true happened to me.
So the denial letter came in, the following reasons were:
Request Exceeds maximum unsecured loan limit
Delinquent past credit obligations with others (the two open collection items that I have for about $700)
So I'm curious now, I thought the system would counter my offer if the amount I requested was too high? I'm going to make a large CC payment on Friday and I will send a reconsideration message to them over the weekend, I only want to increase it up to $10,000 (currently at $4,500). Do you guys think that it's worth a shot?
Where is the max button? I don’t see it in my account.

You probably will get a HP. You should take some time, and carefully read the threads on Navy. Your best bet, instead of requesting the 25 would have been to select Max. That will give you the maximum the system will permit, based on the age of your accounts etc. When you request a number that is higher than that, it sees to go to manual review.
Great advice.
I just read on another thread that the MAX button went away a few months ago.
