Re: Help...Looking for approval odds for any AMEX

*UPDATE*

I have since added a QS1 ($3k)  to my wallet and now I am getting prequalifcations on the amex site! I am suspicious because the prequals are for the Hilton surpass, BCE, Cash Magnet, and Everyday and then the Delta's even the Reserve. I know the co-branded cards are typically easier to qualify for but I'm surprised to see some of these cards over the charge cards. Also only seeing a range of rates no solid APR. Thoughts anyone????

Before you take the plunge, is the BK completely off all your CRs, and primarily Experian?

Yes, it's possible to receive an array of different AmEx cards, and while the pre-qualification tool is fairly reliable for the great majority of profiles, it's not 100% solid.

I tried for years to get an Amex any Amex, I burned them when I was 19. Fast forward now I am 52 , and the pre approval site always said none available. I went to the Hilton site because I am a member and applied that way because everyone said it's the easiest card. Approved only $1000 SL. My Experian is low 618, EQ 665 TU 645. But I have loads of cards now with larger limits from Navy FCU and Cap 1. So hang in there

Yes the CH. 13 was filed in 5/2015 so i'll be looking for EE sometime in January of this year, my concern with the prequals is they seem too good to be true lol. Delta Reserve??? BCE??

Re: Help...Looking for approval odds for any AMEX

I was approved recently for BCE 687 score, a bit over 100k income. Dirty, thick file. One 2 yr old CO, and lates. I have Cap 1 - credit one, and other builder cards. Overall similar except the BK. So maybe worth a shot. Although, I did have offers on pre-qual.

Re: Help...Looking for approval odds for any AMEX

As I mentioned before, I have a similar profile and got BCE, I got a 2 k sl , I don't expect it to budge much, given my profile and that is fine with me.

NFCU is less score sensitive, I got a 15k sl, and think you may fare better. I got Discover also, 9k sl.

You can wait longer but I think other lenders may give you what you,are looking for.

IMO, you have options to get an Amex in the long run (12-18) months.

Highly depend on Navy, as they might start you off small, but their CLI rise faster than most. The More Rewards card is on the Amex network; don't know if Amex can track this, but I believe it has a positive effect.

Amex loves high income, but like other major banks, they tend to match or closely meet limits of other cards.

If you did purchase a home, this too has a positive outcome algorithm wise.

When ready to apply, expect to reach out to their recon line to state your case for approval.

NFCU Amex has nothing to do with an Amex issued by American Express Bank. It simply uses the Amex network. Getting the Navy MR wouldn't help build a relationship with Amex the bank.

Is the APR% showing a range instead of an exact number a good indicator of denial?

Re: Help...Looking for approval odds for any AMEX

From personal Amex experience I don't think it indicates one way or another. None of my four revolvers showed a fixed percentage, and all were approved instantly. My charge cards showed fixed APR for pay over time, but that's standard anyway.

For some issuers like Disco, the fixed APR seems to indicate strongly but from what I've seen at least, Amex isn't that way.
