I just applied for the Chase Freedom card again (I've applied for it two or three times already) and I didn't get an instant decision. I want to call Chase first thing tomorrow to try to get an approval but I'm not sure what to say. In the past they denied me for a derogatory mark on my credit report (a medical collection) that has since been paid and deleted. They also mentioned my short credit history. My AAoA is 8 months but I have a car loan on my report that's almost 3 years old. Should I mention that? Anyone have any advice for a successful Chase recon (preferably someone who reconned with a short credit history and/or several inquiries or new accounts)? My credit score seems to be in the range that most people are getting approved at 650-660 across all three agencies.
Did you check your app status via Chase's automated system by phone. It's usually a good sign if it says that you'll hear back from them in 2 weeks and not so good if it says 7-10 days. Either way, I'd give recon a shot and explain your situation.
Uh oh, I just did the automated application status check call and got the 7-10 day message. Maybe it's not as bad as it looks. I did apply for the card pretty late tonight so maybe they really do just need to review it.
UPDATE: I got the card! Check the credit card approvals section for the full story.
congrats!
Congrtulations, looks like you should garden for a while now!
