Hello to all,
Could anybody share or advise about Hilton Honors Aspire cards underwriting criteria?
I logged into my account last week and went to "all cards", clicked on Hilton and it said "Applying to expand your membership with us is easy..." nothing like "You are Pre-approved" so I applied and was declined, however, my platinum card I just got approved for used to say "You are preapproved"
I have had AMEX Cash Magnet for 7 months and just got platinum card, my current Experian Fico 08 is at 737 and Fico 09 at 760
7 inquiries and utili is at 6%
Please advise!
thanks.
The $450 AF cards seem to have minimum SL's of $3100. They may just not be comfortable with you at $7100 total exposure. Is your file thin?
I'll provide some data points.
Scores were mide 600's.
Started with amex 8-17.
Amex Delta Gold $1000 SL
Amex PRG
Went for Hilton Surpass in October. $1k SL
Denied for CLI after the 6x days
Went for SPG in 12-17. Again $1k SL. This was approved for 3x CLI in March of 2018.
Apped for Hilton Biz in July 2018, approved for 10K
Apped for Amex ED in July 2018 also approved for 8k.
Also received cli on SPG Septmber of 2018.
Scores now are mid 700's.
Point of my story is you just need to have history and they'll give out some good starting lines.

It seems more folks are looking at this card. One of many reasons I'm wagering is due to the included automatic Diamond status.

The automatic Diamond status plus the airline/hotel credits did it for me. Totally wipes out the AF if you travel.

I blame sdsoccerdad's great write-ups on here in other posts for my grabbing the Aspire
. I agree fully though, I got this card a week before the Xmas holiday, was able to utilize the airline spend and it already reset on Jan 1st (#winning!) . Diamond status took affect within an hour of approval. Just as my CSR and Platinum did, with extensive travel the fees are reduced to minimum cost.
It's definitely a nice card if you utilize Hilton and accept the fee / perks. As for the approval odds, all I can say is I had similiar stats to the OP on app'ing however UTIL was 1%, salary high 6 figure, and a 2 year / 2 card history with Amex upon going for the Aspire.

Did you make your second purchase of gift cards yet? On the 1st of January, I made 5-$50 delta gc purchases with this card and the statement credits posted today. On another note, I was also able to get 4-$50 gc's for Delta on the Amex plat as well.
Glad you got the card and find it useful. This to me is probably the best Amex card out there in terms of value if you stay at Hilton properties often.
