My first instinct says that if WF is actually ASKING you to app, it’s a solid offer lol. To me they’ve always seemed like a conservative, “don’t-even-bother” bank. If you want the card, go for it. I bet you get it. Good luck!!
Thanks, yeah the way it's worded it does seem they are asking me to app. But they are conservative, and a little overboard with documenting things. I app'd for a WF CC a couple years ago from a genric promo on their web site when I had a checking account with them for a SUB. I got an "under review" notice and then a letter asking for 2 months of pay stubs. I know that's their right to ask for POI, but I just refuse to do it for a high interest credit card.I didn't have to provide any POI for a $15k car loan in Sept. 2017, I'd been with the local credit union for a couple years, banking & CC, so they didn't even ask for a pay stub.
But the thing was that I had my payroll direct deposit going into the WF checking for the bonus, if Wells wanted POI all they had to do was look at my checking account! The whole thing just seemed so stupid I threw the letter in the trash and wrote them off my list.
I'm thinking about it . . . Looks like they pull EX for Arizona, I'm 718 on EX with 8 inquires, but 4 fall off in the next month. Would love a pull on TU, 731 Fico & only 3 inquires, hardly anyone pulls TU anymore . . .

Tell that to my TU report
I think you could give it a try to test the waters so to speak. I didnt have any relationship prior to my first WF Amex about 2 years ago and since then i , lol pc'd to Cashwise ( i laugh as it really wasnt a pc haha) picked up the bonus, which paid as soon as the 90 day promo ended, and eventually approved the Propel. No true problems so far. Just an extra lender for diversity
Who pulls TU? Synchrony & Barclays are the only ones I know. The only inquires I have on TU are a triple pull from Cap One & a car dealer, plus Barclays when I "PC'd" to Uber by app'ing & approved, then moving my Cash Forward CL to it & closing Cash Forward. I've still never taken an Uber, I don't travel much, but the 4% on dining is nice.
Thanks for the encouragement, I think I'll app tomorrow for Wells, Sunday is my day to do banking, check credit scores, etc.
Wells actually pulled TU on me in January for my CashWise, but they actually double pulled me and I suspect one of those pulls was for the overdraft protection I opted to bolt onto my recently opened checking account with them. I think the other CB was EX, but as I say I don't know which was which, or if they even did a pull for the overdraft I just would imagine they did. Anyway, I'm in Ohio so not all that relevant but a DP is a DP lol
I know their rep is in the toilet right now and may never stop circling the drain actually, but FWIW I've been impressed with them so far despite the lack of a single branch in my state. It's certainly been a better banking experience than I've had with a few others.
