So, HomeDepot just approved me for a card about 5 minutes ago.
But it's not big enough to really use... It's $500...
How long before I can request the first CLI? How often after that?
Is it a SP or HP?
Are they usually generous increases?
DO I HAVE TO USE IT for the CLI?
Thanks!
Is it identical to Macy's since both are Citi, or different? Cause I know Macy's offers SP CLI every 30 days and grows RAPIDLY...
I hope Home Depot is identical...

Usually have to wait 6 months to ask for a CLI .. (YMMV)
Usually a HP for Increases.
I closed mine, as I did not use it, and was not willing to take HP's to grow a store card.
ETA: Will not grow like a Macy's card!
If I go spend the $500, make 5 $100 payments, then RCLI at 6 month mark, what do you THINK my CL may increase to?
I have $0 debt. 750 scores. CLEAR credit (No Baddies). 3 Positive Accounts (1 is 9 years old @ $4,500, 1 is 2 years old @ $500, 1 is 1 year old @ $25,000)...
Thanks!!!
P.s.
This card is important to me, cause i plan to do a MAJOR remodel in 1 Year... So 2 CLI opportunities between now and then!
Call Citi today and explain $500 isnt sufficient. Some have had success on first day. Possible second hp but possible not too. This card usually only grows on hp .
I've been told six month intervals also. Got my first CLI in May after having the card at $500 since 2006, they gave me an additional $2000 for a HP.
Definitely YMMV on granted CLIs. I gave up on mine after about 7 years as it was stuck at $1000 and I kept taking HPs trying to increase it with no luck (clean reports, mid and upper 700s at those times). I repeatedly maxed it out and paid it off with no luck. Other posters here have had better luck.
If you don't have a strong preference for HD over Lowe's, consider the Lowe's card from Synchrony which can usually be far more generous and grow grow grow. I actually prefer my nearest HD store, but the 0% offers on the Lowe's card are generally better especially for larger purchases.
Macy's and Bloomingdale's cards are managed by the DSNB branch of Citi, and are definitely treated differently than CBNA store cards like Home Depot.
This is a topic I am curious about myself. I have a home depot card with the same balance but I have had it for about 2 years and never gotten an increase. I have used it a few times and paid it in different ways, paid balance in full , follow promotional payment schedule and paid higher then pay schedule and nothing. I haven't requested an increase because i heard it's a hard pull and it isn't necessary and since Im trying to get a mortgage preapproval I am just going to wait but I would like to see how this works for you.
I have thought abut the lowes card myself but I have had bad experience with syncrony bank and even been heaing alot of people's horror stories on how they just randomly close accounts for any little reason. They actually did that to me with my lenscrafter card. That makes me nervous because imagine building a high limit and then they just close it. Then i got home depot over here never giving credit limit increase ..... geez
