Hello, so recently received a Pre-selected mailer for Citi AAdvantage Platinum card, with 50k bonus miles offer. I have recently been converted to AA frequent flier miles from US Airways, but never had the US Airways card. However, I'm a litle hesitant to apply, since a few years ago I also got a mailer from Citi for one of the Thank you cards, and was denied, even though the offer date was still valid. I don't get any pre-qual offers from the pre-qual link. Thinking of applying for this, really only because the Venture card pre-qual I have, has a $3k spend requirement for 40k bonus miles. But, I don't want to apply if their offers are inconsistent with their approvals.
Also, if I don't want to try to meet the $3k spend on the Venture, does the pre-qual for Venture also apply to Venture One, if I wanted to apply for that one instead?
Thanks in advance.

What does it say in the mailer, does it list a specific APR ? If not, it's just a marketing mailer and doesn't represent any kind of preapproval. That offer is available to everyone so it's nothing special that they're offering you. (It's still a good deal).
If you prequalify for the Venture you wouldn't have any problem getting the VentureOne as that's an easier card to get.
No, it doesn't specify a specific APR, just references me as a FF miles member. Thanks for your help. Probaly not going to waste an inquiry then.

Yeah that means it's just a marketing mailer that they will send out to AA members.
