Chase is being a nemisis for me especially with all the new news about multipe new lines within 2 years being a decided no. That's for me anyway.
Have a daughter with a very thin file and but a decent score. Discover said no, Barclays pending but will recon if a no since. She has car loan since sept 2014 and one tiny cl of 150 ; waiting for my amex to repor her au status but they are slow slow slow.
So, if Chase doesn't like a lot of new lines in past 2 years now, how are they with slim files?

call barclay now for recon.
i would not apply to chase with thin file until they are pre-qual you for something (daughter)
I would take the capital one in the mean time and amex as soon as the au reports.
As always ymmv but chase was my second credit card. I got a Marriott with 5k limit and it was 1 month after being approved for amex gold. They were the only 2 inq I had on EX and besides that I had 16 months of on time payments for auto loan.
Just a couple of personal examples here, so take it with a grain of salt but: I had about 6 months of history with 2 CC's, all payments on time, UTIL very good.. applied for Freedom and was declined. Called recon and was told no because they want at least a year of history. I have had checking/savings with them for over 10 years. It was a firm no and there was nothing I could do.
Meanwhile, my buddy walked into a branch (with zero credit history) and was offered a Freedom. Opened it on the spot with a $1k limit.
Doesn't seem to be a ton of rhyme or reason.
