How long between CLI requests with Capital One?

90 days seems to be the waiting period for a CLI with Discover, but how long do you wait before requesting the next CLI with Capital One?

Without asking, Capital One gave my Venture One card (not to be confused with the Venture Rewards card) a CLI from $8K to $11K on 10/1/2019.  I just received a new card with everything appearing the same except it's now states "World MasterCard" on the back.  I called to see if I was eligible for the upgrade to the "Venture Rewards" card, and was told not yet.  Should I either:

A)  wait six months and a day and call on April 2nd, 2020 to see if I'm eligible for the Venture Rewards upgrade, or

B)  call now to request a new CLI on the Venture One card, or

C)  just wait and see if in a few more months I'll finally get the upgrade to the Venture Rewards card

You can try the product upgrade request online to see if any offers. I'm not aware of the wait time.  Capital One check for upgrade link

The upgrade link didn't work for me, but thanks so much for providing it.  I'll just wait 'till April 2nd to request a new CLI as well as the upgrade to the Venture Reqards card.

Good luck. May the odds be ever in your favor.

This is not true. Recently I got CLI 3 months in a row and 5 out of 7.  Just prior to that, I went 12+ months with no CLI -- and it wasn't from a lack of asking. Smiley Wink

It is a good idea to not try to pigeon-hole the lending practices of some lenders. I'd put Miss Disco in that category.

Re: How long between CLI requests with Capital One?

You don't have to wait EXACTLY six months (180ish days). Maybe a few days before. I got my 2nd card w them and got the normal CLI after 5 on-time payments. They then gave me ANOTHER auto increase w/o me ever asking just 5 months later. I asked a million times for a CLI after that, but got the "wait 6 months" response. After about 178 days from my last CLI, I was eligible for a CLI.

Calling won't help bc they'll just send you to the automated CLI request line. You can request online by clicking "I want to" and click "Credit Limit Increase". If you're denied, you should get a response in your Online Documents a few days later. And, you can ask almost whenever. I had been asking every two weeks.

I have a similar experience with Disco.  Seems 90 days is more/less the typical before you will receive your first one. After that though, she can be a loosey goosey or tighter than a jar of peanut butter at a squirrel convention!
