Without asking, Capital One gave my Venture One card (not to be confused with the Venture Rewards card) a CLI from $8K to $11K on 10/1/2019. I just received a new card with everything appearing the same except it's now states "World MasterCard" on the back. I called to see if I was eligible for the upgrade to the "Venture Rewards" card, and was told not yet. Should I either:
A) wait six months and a day and call on April 2nd, 2020 to see if I'm eligible for the Venture Rewards upgrade, orB) call now to request a new CLI on the Venture One card, or
C) just wait and see if in a few more months I'll finally get the upgrade to the Venture Rewards card
I have two Cap1 cards and noticed like clockwork the 6mo period to ask for anything has been beneficial. 6mo waits for me have led to SP balance increases, Product Changes, even promotional interest rate reductions. I'll say 6mo will do the trick, a day sooner has been the difference between yes and no. Trust me I've tried!
[UPDATE] First, I was finally approved to upgrade from the Venture One card to the Venture Rewards card, but now I regret doing for a $95 AF for a card a hardly ever use when I didn't have an AF before I pursed the upgrade. I have yet to recieve the card, so I maybe it's not too late.
Secondly, I requested a CLI through the IVR and then online after having waited six-months since the last CLI, but was only offerred a $1,000 increase from $11K to $12K on both portals. I was expecting--if not hoping--for a much bigger CLI, so I didn't accept it on the hopes that it might increase if I only wait another month or two. The credit card companies might be tightening up until the pandemic draws to a close.

... or the Cap1 algorithm operates the same as always and just doesn't find your credit profile befitting more than a 1k CLI.
