How long between apps on thin file?

Hello. I'm currently rebuilding my credit. I've got one paid off closed car loan that was opened 5 years ago, closed 3 years.

A 13 year old good standing child support that I cant get removed (100% positive, last activity reported 2008, shows on EX and EQ only, TU removed it).

3 recent CC: cap 1 $400 ( 5 mos), Chase freedom UL $4500, USAA Signature visa $6000 (both opened in June so almost 2 mos).

1 small personal loan for $3500 (not reporting yet) also opened in jun.
AAoA 1.8 years.

I'm also AU on 14 year old cap1 w $900 limit (it is not factored in FICO 8, but is on older models)..

Util 27% spread, will be 4-6% next cycle on one card.

No baddies. 2 inquiries TU, 3 inquiries EX, 1 inq EQ for 6 total spread.

I was around 730 avg on fico 8 prior to my mini spree. Now I'm in 698 on EQ . 681 TU. 655 on EX Fico 8 (ouch) (it is 709 on FICO 3). Mid mortgage score of 714.

My spree cost about 55 points total. I had my only reported card show zero balance this cycle, which dropped me 36 points right before my new CCs reported. Then they reported and cost me the extra 25 because I didnt know my statement close date and we went to Greece on it. 110K income.

I'm wondering how long do I need to wait before apping for a CSP or CSR? Were planning to go to Egypt in Jan. I'd love a sapphire to open a month before, if I can. If I would have known to pull 2 cards from chase the first go-round I would have, but I didn't expect that first approval anyway. I'm also considering the Barclays Arrival plus because I'm stationed in Europe and we travel every quarter, and I'm looking to move my 5 figures I have in USAA to a Barclays high APY savings.

I will eventually want to add an AMEX, Disc and 1 charge card. The only store card I want is home depot lol. We will also be applying for a mortgage in 2-4 years, even though I own one house PIF.

That's a lot of credit to open in a short time. Don't want to spook your lenders and risk AA. If you're planning to open another Chase in December, I wouldn't app anything else until then. Give your credit some time to age.

I figured as much. I was scared just adding the 2 cards I just got 😂. I figured ideally a year, but it would be great to have a true travel card.

I would wait and let your accounts age a bit. Do PIF every month, make multiple payments, do AZEO and generally just be responsible with the limits. If you have any baddies, see if you use the Saturation technique/GW letters. Any thing that's negative that can be removed will give you a good score bump. You have a good plan for the future, just take your time and go slow. Last thing you want is AA for trying to open too many accounts.

I wouldn't suggest you app for CSP or CSR this december. The reason being, csp is a visa sig( min sl should be 5k) and csr is a visa infinite(min sl should be 10k). Since you just got FU approved last month for a relatively moderate sl of 4.5k, by dec you would just have a 6 month relationship with chase. I would recommend you wait atleast till june 19 so that you can actually be approved and with a good sl. It probaby would be a waste of a HP if you app for either of them this dec. Also, with chase you don't get frequent cli's and you would have to HP to get one customer initiated. If you actually need a travel card, I would suggest you look for a card from some other lender.

Re: How long between apps on thin file?

Precisely. I would be very sad if I got AA from Chase. I don't feel I need a lot of cards. Maybe total of 5 max.

I've read some people app everything at once so accounts age together. The catch with a thin file is it can appear "risky" to do this. The downside to waiting 6 months from now is I will knock my AAoA down much harder due to thinness.

I never carry a balance, even though my current Chase has 0 APR until next october 2019. I want to show them I don't rely on credit, but want access to it "just in case". Chase is also very military friendly, which is why I looked to them to begin with. I just need a travel card. My Freedom UL has some travel perks, but not as much as the Sapphires.
Thanks for input! Much appreciated!
