My credit disappeared after many years abroad, so I rebooted it 2 years ago. Got my score up to 750ish with all 3 and got bored one weekend. Opened 5 cards in a week. All got approved, but now I'm getting declined for CLI requests that were a formality before.
How long before love comes back to town?
12 months at least after that many cards together as it appears as Credit Seeking to lenders which is a huge Red Flag for them
Well, I don't know the proper answer here; however, my rule of thumb once I have a max of 4 hp inquiries on any of my CRs, then it's time to settle down and let those fall off. I heard somewhere lenders may look at four or more hp inquiries in a short time as "credit-seeking” behavior. I'm sure that's just a ballpark and YMMV, but one that's always stayed with me. 😊
Big YMMV, but you're going to need to pace yourself because you're just getting back into the game. Sit on the sidelines for a while, maybe in 6 months try for a CLI, preferably on a card known to process them with only soft pulls if you have one.
Keep an eye on those 5 cards because some issuers do circle around and keep track of what you've been up to after an approval due to their sensitivity toward app sprees.
It was in August. The first one was a Spark card, then all 4 retail cards the following weekend. Macy's, Bloomies, Nordstrom, and BB&B. The bloomies card tripled my CL last month, and the BB&B/comenity still hasn't reported on any of the bureuas.
Strangely enough, last month (October) I opened an Amex BCE card. Low limit.
Fortunately, the cards I want a CLI on are all soft pulls, so I can ask and ask with no consequences. But yeah, it does seem like they've taken notice.
i did my first App Spree in Feb of this year - totally regret it
had my scores all lined up to get a Car Loan to buyout my Leased car - that was successfull - got the lowest rate at 2.59%
but then i did 2 CC's and 1 Loan
my scores tanked of course - and i am waiting until Feb/March 2023 so that i can see them start to raise again
i am firmly on a 1 App per 6 month period from now on - or longer, as i am more in a position to close CCs as opposed to opening more
1 year after will make a good difference for you i believe
good luck to you

Lol u did one better than me, I got 3 cards in a week, then 1 card next week and then almost a month later, one more card
Let's garden together for a long while
I was at 750, now i'm in the 720's. Part of that is also recent utilization. But yeah... It isn't even the score that's locking me up at this point.
In general, I think scores are just a broad reading of your profile, but length of credit and recent inquiries have an outsized influence. Far beyond the 10% it says they do. Also, I could take my 750 and 2 years and apply for the same card as your 700 and 5 years, and I'll get a $1,000 limit, while you get $5k opening limit.
