Assuming for a moment that I get declined this week for the csp.......how long should I wait to ask for a CLI on the slate and freedom cards (the ideal plan would be to get a CLI On both then request to rollover all but 500 of the slate CL over to the freedom, wait 6 months, then try for the CSP again when a few INQ's fall off)
and also in the off chance I do get the csp.... Same question above applies.
How long have you had the Slate and Freedom? What are the current CLs?
It'll be a HP for a CLI request...but you probably already know that. I think Chase is starting to get more skiddish about multiple INQs on their end and "credit seeking" behavior...but having a long relationship with them might calm their nerves.
This is something for others to answer...if OP just applied for CSP and wanted CLI on the other two...is there anyway that the CSP HP could be used and spare him/her another HP?
Sorry, I put them in my sig .... Guess it's too big to show
chase slate: 2200 CL (open 10/5/15)
chase freedom: 2000 CL (open 9/22/15)
I should add that I have been with chase (checking account ) since it was WAMU
I'd probably wait and see what happens with CSP.
If they deny you, call up and speak to recon if you feel like it, and then after the results are finalized - throw out questions about CLI and see what information you could glean from them. But, I'd probably wait until April 5th or 6th to request CL on anything.
If they approve the CSP, I'd probably wait until everything was 6 months old before trying anything.
Are you saying If I'm denied the csp that I could call to try and "recon the recon"? ( I'm currently waiting for an answer from a 7-10 day message/recon) or will the "contact" that I receive by mail in two weeks specifically state why I was denied?
chase did a HP on 3/12 fwiw
when I do contact them for a CLI when both of my current Chase cards are 6 months old: what's the best way to contact them, and is it advisable to ask for a CLI on both in the same phone call/email?
as always- thanks for the help, this place is a wealth of knowledge.
If you received the standard 7-10 day message right after applying, then that isn't technically them reconsidering the application...they're just still reviewing it. If you received an actual denial and called and asked them to review, and were told it would be 7-10 days, then that is a recon...and if they come back with another denial...then it may or may not do anything to try a second recon.
If you receive an official denial letter/email, you can then start weighing your options in regards to recon and whether or not you can explain away their reasons for denial.
I'm pretty sure you can still do CLI request online if you want...or you can call 888-245-0625. If calling in, I'd ask about increasing both lines. Have you been using the cards heavily and paying in full? You may need some level of justification for a higher CL.
It's the latter and not the former ( when I get the letter that will be IT).....
usage: I use the freedom ALOT, (then pay it off immediately to keep it at a 0 balance)
I don't use the slate a lot (maybe 3 times) but when I use it- I use 98-99% of the CL and then promptly pay it off within a couple of days (however long it takes to post)
good of to know though that I could ask for a CLIon both in one call/email
I've read some posts that rec heavy use and PIF every month to prove that you need a bit more cushion for spend. Then I've read others that don't use the card much but still end up with CLIs. So the secret algorhythms used remain a mystery to me...
Considering you already tried recon with Chase...it might be wise to lay low for a few months and then hit them with a CLI request. Just my opinion...they seem very sensitive to "credit seeking behavior".
Hopefully they give you the CSP and then maybe come fall you can hit them for a bump.
