So I have a few CCs and my last app was for Barclays Rewards MC and I got an instant approval for $2k SL and my card arrived in the mail today.it's a World MasterCard too, which I was excited about. I'm moving on up!
Anyway, how long should I wait before I apply for anything else? My scores at the moment are: EX-667/TU-688/EQ-681 all pulled from the official Experian site (accidentally clicked the button that pulled up all 3- doh!) overall UTIL is between 20-22%. I owe about $1500/$7800. One baddie on EX/EQ from a small $300 installment housing loan for a college that I wasn't aware of but PIF albeit 30 days late. (Ouch)
I've read that Barclays is VERY inq sensitive and I don't want to risk anything. My plan is to wait and garden for 6 months and then go for an AMEX BCE and a Discover It. But I would like some feedback from all of you experienced MyFICOers.
If I were you, i'd go and garden for 6 months. Keep my utilizations low and keep making on-time payments. Soon enough you'll see your scores rise. When you hit about 710, try for the Discover IT.
Or you can also check Citi and Chase's pre-approval sites. I think they're better than Discover's generic pre-approved cards for all!
