Recently opened my own credit card in February. My EQ and TU scores are 705. Assuming I pay the bills on time and have low credit utilization, how long would it take and around what credit score range do to have a good chance of getting approved for AMEX Plat? Thanks in advance
First off, what is your Ex score - that is what Amex uses
No Ex score yet... only have 2 months of account history
Missing info. What are your EX scores? And which/what card did you open? Starting limit? Planned utilization rate? The charge cards by AMEX are relatively easy to get give you manage your credit correctly and have a decent AAoA, I opened my 3 AMEX cards just this week with no problems and instant approvals.
Edit: Util % under 30% for sure, mine was around 25% when I got approved, with EX of 690.
I'd wait a year. If your EX score is similar then you're okish. Depends on other factors too like income. Somewhat off topic...I wonder if AMEX is going to make it a bit harder to get the Platinum in the future? It seems like they want to ease the crowding at lounges and more importantly it seems the rhetoric coming from mgmt is that they want to make it exclusive again like in the old days. Maybe that's just me.
I initially got my ED card in Oct of 15, then come May of 16, I got an e-mail offer to apply for the Platinum and was instantly approved. My scores at the time were somewhere inbetween 690-710. So that was about 6-7 months before I got the offer. Had I not gotten the offer, I would've never applied for the Platinum, for it is waaaaaaay outside of my tax bracket!!
