Don't feel bad.... I got approved for 5 cards last month..... 2 cards this month and just applied for My 3rd after reading this thread 
I was very low on inquires to start and my Utilization is about 5% so I have some room to get a little loose with my applications lol
I knew about this site for years but wasn't really active on the forums until I was researching my probability of getting approved for a Navy Fed card .. and it was all Down/Up hill from there lol However you wanna look at it
This board gave me alot of confidence that I was ready to come out the garden and start getting some cards and boy was the advice and knowledge on this site correct....
Started the year with $2,150 on 3 cards and now I have 40k accross 11 cards....

Around 12 for me! Most of them are about 1 year old, now.
Just Got Approved for the Penfed Platinum i Just talked about so thats 9 This year for me 
MrDFinance is making life and temptation hard for me this year. I've only acquired *2* specific cards this year (Amex Platinum & CSR) in August which were the only ones I had been wanting/needing at that time. After feeding the forum addiction here, there are now a good # of others I'd like too but Chase has me too paranoid to even forget to wash my hands, rinse the dishes, and pump gas to an even number, so self-control is winning out thus far.
What I found about chases AA is that they only put u into review if say you open a card with them... Then apply for a bunch of new cards and then try to get a 2nd card with them within that same time span.... That 2nd application seems to trigger the manual review and closure..... I'm a PIF kinda guy so my utilization is low and before this spree this year I was in the garden so I only have 6
inquires on TU... 4 on EQ and 4 of EX after all this .... So my file doesn't look like I've been seeking and I'm not holding any big balances....
I'm not going to poke the chase bear with a 2nd application... I will wait patiently for a pre approval for the CSR ... However long that takes ...
My advice to anyone that goes on a spree and includes chase in there... Dont apply for multiple chase cards ... Spread them out by 6 months or so
