Cap one Plat SL $300
My account was opened March 26.
I requested on June 7 and got denied for "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low".
Was able to PC to Quicksilver on July 4th (100th Day).
When can i try again? I know approval is 6 months but what about denial?
And is there any secific way to answer the questions to raise chances? I know i went BOLD asking for 2k with "My current line does not meet my long terms spening needs."
Thanks in advance.
You can try any time you want; however, if nothing has changed since your denial I wouldn't hold my breath expecting a different outcome
Capital One likes to see moderate spending and decent payments on there accounts for 2-3 months before an increase and thats still no guarantee. Capital One is known to "bucket" low limit cards. You can ask every day if denied but will probably get the same answer. All you can do is show the card some attention for a few months and try again.
yeah since my denial i been using the card and having to make payments to continue using the card. so its been heavy use since the denial.
i think that the only answers that matter are your income and housing payment. on the site, it asks how much you want, but in the app, it doesn't. i tested this twice on the site and app and got the same results.
@vsChanceif you use the card a lot, you can try every 3 months but just to let you know that Cap1 uses old scores like from 2 months ago. You will see that from your denial letter.
i spend 10x my limit every month for years now and cant get an increase for **bleep** lol. all my scores are 750+ for a while and it doesnt matter. tired of them might just cut em off and move on low limit card might be holding me back on other cards lol

This.
They do SP ARs every 3 months I think and use the score from that to make CLI decisions until the next AR. (Tho wouldn't that be a QR and not an AR done quarterly LOL?)

So much this. This card is on the chopping block right now; the executioner has his axe raised... as soon as the 5x points for walmart pay expires... perhaps before. I really don't want to put in the effort when I've had so much success 'elsewhere'. It makes me want to put dollars through 'elsewhere' just on principle. It takes serious effort to manage this card properly and I'm not sure I can be bothered.

I totally understand the frustration with Cap1. I had a Platinum that I PCd to QuickSilver with a $500 CL. It was my first card and I had it for a little over year. Then I got approved for two cards with $8k+ limits, and I realized I didn't want to spend money on a card that wouldn't grow when I could get better rewards elsewhere. It's great to get your foot in the door, but sometimes you just have to move on.
