Overstock started me out at $4,000. Every time I would buy something I really did not need I would get more cash to spend on a future purchase. It seemed like a cycle of being encouraged to buy something else. Our laundry room began to look like a pop-up store with multiple unopened shower curtains, Cuisinart knife sets, crock pots and so forth. I finally just cancelled the account in the time when Comenity was closing people down. Went from 12 to 2 Comenity accounts.
Last year I read here about SCT for the first time and decided to try for Overstock. I ended up doing a cold app and was denied ( Comenity has issues with dealing with Fraud Alerts ) Now that my scores have rebouded, I get popups on most of the Comenity stores when I go to finallize a purchase. Got a preapproval letter in the mail yesterday for the Gander Mountain MC. Point Im trying to make is take the advice given here and garden and clean up your credit reports. Before you know it Comenity will be in your rear view mirror as you build your file. Good luck

Again (as I posted previously) be very careful, because it looks like Comenity is starting to take action against heavy SCT users especially if they have a ton of cards they don't actually use and/or have really big CL's. If you use the SCT at all, I would really advise to play it conservatively and only get cards you actually plan to use regularly, and also be careful when applying for CLI's on those cards.
