I'm hoping there's comfort for some people in seeing that these small CLIs aren't personal. It's their current policy (with a few exceptions for ballers like @ChargedUp).
LOL! Baller status with Capital One
Didn't one of the *real* heavy hitters around here have a Quicksilver or Venture up to $60K at one time?
There's still quite a few members who's CLs >$50K (those who did not get CLD). Mine grew over the years after several combos (when combinations were a thing) and it currently sits at $160K.
$160K???
Correct $160,000.
Suffice it to say, I know of a couple individuals who have greater than mine, $300K. Yes, Capital One.
That's astonishing. I had no idea Capital One ever gave out limits that high. Seems a little surprising they would leave that in tact through this fall's round of CLDs, but their research must tell them there's more risk in little-used four and five figure limits than in six figure ones.

I'm fairly sure they periodically monitor 'whales' just like they do 'dolphins' since risk is still risk.
They stopped approving $50K SLs toward the Fall of 2015 I believe. The highest SLs these days seem to be around $30K for some personal and biz CCs. One thing for sure, they're not handing them out like candy like they did years ago. Plus, the account combination feature has been disabled for years.
For context, below is the thread from 2015 that basically planted the seed of how it got to where it did.

Waste of time.... they only offered me 10% of my credit line and I Pif $1000 every month because that's the only card I have. I now have disco so I'll grow faster with them. Capital one is no no

So your offer was a 10% CLI, as in if your limit was $2000 they offered to increase you to $2200?
Dunno if this is helpful for your research, but my SO just got a 3x CLI from $1k to $3k on their 4 mo old Cap1 Plat (now QS). From the amount and the age of the card, I assume this is a "credit steps" increase.
Congrats to SO! 3x is always good. 3x from Capital One is cause for celebration!
I'm not very familiar with credit steps. Those dollar amounts sound a bit higher than the ones I'm accustomed to seeing labeled as credit steps around here.
Was the CLI automatic or initiated by SO's request?
Automatic. Occured a couple of days after accepting the product upgrade to QS.
@Curious_George2 wrote:I changed my mind. I really want to get the limit on this card up to a level that is somewhat close to my other cards, and that requires jumping on CLIs as aggressively as I can. I'm not confident anything I do will entice them to raise their offer at this time. Also, the testing I had in mind would have required me to accelerate some spending more than I'm comfortable with. So I requested a CLI again, got the same $400 offer (not surprising, nothing much changed) but this time I took it. I will post it in Approvals.
Regarding amounts, here is my best guess at their standard offers right now when they grant a cardholder's request for a CLI.
If your limit is this Your likely CLI amount $1600 or lower, not in Credit Steps $100 $1601 to $2500 $200 $2501 to $3500 $300 $3501 to $4500 $400 $4501 to $7000? $500 $7001? to $9000? $750 $9001? to $12,000 $1000

Do you think the chart also applies to "Venture Card for Good Credit", just got approved today with $1000 limit. Wondering what would happen in the future??

Congrats on getting approved for the Venture! I think the chart I prepared does currently apply to CLIs on Venture cards that are initiated by a cardholder request. There are some examples of Venture (and Savor and QS) cards receiving larger CLIs automatically, usually after a period of extremely high spend. And sometimes a Venture-holder gets less than what's shown in the table above, presumably because they are hitting some other cap. But I haven't seen any examples from the last 11 months of anyone requesting a CLI and getting more than what's shown above, regardles of which type of CapOne card they held.
