Always be polite and the key to a successful recon is to LISTEN to the their responses when they are not willing to approve. That way, you can plan well, have answers to the concerns the 1st analyst brings up before calling again. Feeling entitled won't get you anywhere.
When you call, always start by saying...
" Hi, I applied for x card and I was wondering if there is further infomation needed to process my application". That opening should prompt them to want to pull up the application and see exactly what is going. It is nice to to chit chat but get straight to the point of the call and ALWAYS BE NICE AND FRIENDLY..
Also, if you spoke to analyst the 1st time and have to to do a 2nd recon, Never ever say I called before and the 1st analyst declined me... Let the 2nd analyst figure it out and do not volunteer infomation unless asked.
Gotta say, this is exactly what I ended up doing the other night when I reconned my Barclay's RM.
I think I would still attempt my other approach if I got a firm denial. Since this was the 7 - 10 day message, I found your advice perfectly fit the situation, so thank you for sharing!
Good job on the approval glad it helps. The analysts are not our friends although human so getting straight to the point about the reason for the call is very important.
This thread is important. Everybody should learn to recon...especially those with great credit scores. You just got aproved for that card you want? Call recon and say you want more. Doesn't work with Chase but it works with others...like Barclay's. Just because you got approved doesn't mean you have to be complacent with how much you were approved for. Be nice!!!
