I Need Help! Care Credit...

I recently applied for Care Credit, it gave me the message my application is under review.  I called Synchrony back door to check on app status and the rep told me I had to call 800-552-5239 because they can't help me...um, ok so when I call this number, I get a message to make a payment press 1 and etc....I just went and pressed a number and then I was directed to a message that said it was Pallisades CA!!!! I had Pallisades place a judgement on me in 2011 for an old GEMB account and the judgement is satisied!  I never have had a Care Credit account.  I hung up, I'm not sure what to do...I thought Care Credit was Synchrony?  I will not speak to Pallisades! I wanted to get braces for my daughter, but before I speak to those beasts I'll get another job! This was very strange.

Re: I Need Help! Care Credit...

I have Care Credit and I just used it for my daughters braces.  The account is Synchrony, all corespondence that I have recieved are Synychrony.  Maybe some else's experience has been different.

Re: I Need Help! Care Credit...

Care credit used to be GEMB back in early 2000s (I had them in 05/06) - if you never previously had care credit I have no idea why they'd have you call GEMB though.

Re: I Need Help! Care Credit...

OP, I'm sorry to hear about your experience.  My own Care Credit application also went to review; I was actually given a reference number on the screen immediately after applying with instructions for me to call (!).  I was very uneasy, but after a few questions, I was approved.

Just to clarify, Care Credit is Synchrony, but Synchrony was previously GEMB (they changed their name in 2014).  That being said, I've never heard of being referred to a collection agency when applying for a new account, even if there was a collection still active, which you state there isn't.

At this point, unless you want to give the Synchrony phone number another try, all you can really do is wait for your letter in the mail, and move forward from there (assuming you're denied).

I wish I had more to offer... please keep us posted, and let us know how it works out!  Smiley Wink
