Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Good Morning! I recently applied for a Synchrony card through La-Z-Boy's website and was instantly denied. After combing my credit reports to see what bureau they pulled I found nothing. Then I received a letter saying the reason for the denial was "high risk source of application." What does that mean? In 50 years of using credit I have never heard of such a thing.
This has come up before. What did you use to do the application? PC or phone?
I used my iPad without a vpn.
It's possible it didn't like the IP address. I would try again from a PC and see what happens. If you still see the problem, you could always call Sync and explain your issue and see if they can verify the app while you have them on the phone.
EDIT: I'm guessing the iPad is working on a wireless plan?

Some issuers try to geolocate your physical location when applying for credit as an anti-fraud measure. If it doesn't look like you're applying from or near your home address they either won't accept the application (BBVA as an exampled used to do this) or will deny it.
It can take up to 24 hours for a hard pull from either Transunion or Equifax to be seen BTW. If after 24 hours or so you don't see a hard pull the denial was likely related to a geopositioning issue.
Were you applying from home connected to your own wireless network?
No. It's not a cellular model.
Yes I was. My vpn was not connected on my iPad at the time.
If you did not take a hard pull you can try using a different computer from your home network, or at least at a very mininum use a different browser on your iPad (i.e. if you used Safari before, this time install Chrome and use that).
Thank you all so much for your help. Much appreciated!
it triggers this response if you have a fraud alert or some incomplete info wrong number misspelled name or middle name when its not listed on cr......
