Hello everyone. So my mom went to the dentist and needs to get some work done on her teeth. The total the doctor told her would be is about $2500. They accept care credit at our dentist but I don"t have the CC. My file is still thin, I'm 19 I have no baddies/ late payments. I have a personal loan on my report at about $1500 balance and one store CC and a Cap1 CC. I applied for the Cap1 CC in August and it has a $300 limit. My dad is still trying to fix his credit, he has collections and other baddies. His scores are in the lid to low 600s so i'm not sure if he'll be approved. My scores are EQ:705 TU: 698 and EX: 679 with an AAoA of 5 months. I was trying to stay in the garden for about 6 months but this just came up and I'm not sure what to do. Sould I let my dad apply and see how much he gets or should I apply? thanks for the help. Do I have any chance of getting approved?
The ultimate decision is up to you. I know this is your mother, but I would have a talk with her first about opening a credit card in your name to pay for the dental work she needs done. Also remember that you will be on the hook for the payments if your mother pays or not, which I hope it would not end up that way.

yeah, I'll talk to her about that. Do you think I'll get approved with such a thin file?
Hi royalflush, I don't really think a 19 year old should be applying for credit to pay for things for her parents, who sound perfectly capable of handling their own affairs.
Is there a reason that your mom can't apply?
I'd say to have mom or dad apply for the Care Credit or other credit card they may need to address the situation.
