Guarantee it was a bank that chase acquired... Possibly a WAMU card or Providian or something of the likes they acquired.. You already have the BK working against youand they are very BK unfriendly then on top of that burning them on a card that they most likely acquired that bank puts the nail in the coffin.. I never had a BK and had a CO for 200ish on a providian card in 1990 that I paid off before they acquired it. They them bought that portfolio and up to a few years ago they mentioned it.. Although I have alot of chase products now they will always know what they have bought being banks and use that against you along with a fairly recent bk as very few these days get in prior to a BK completely falling off their reports. So my advise is wait till 2022 until off report (10 years right) and if still interested in chase try again otherwise most likely you are burning a hp or two each application unless they change their policies in the future, but doubtful with their profits.
If it makes you feel any better they denied me last night with a 780 TU score and I have never had a BK. So even without your BK they might still have denied you.
I was only tempted into applying for the $70 off coupon you get if you are approved. Someone suggested that I call for recon but after reading so many negative reviews of this card today I have decided not to go for recon and count my blessings to not have to deal with Chase.
Chase was already on my crap list because they closed my brother's credit card for no reason several years ago. He had had the card for many years, had never been late or missed a payment, has a good income, never been unemployed, etc etc etc. They just shut his card down for no reason.
The only problem is I'm thinking of getting a car loan on a Mazda at the end of next year and Chase is their captive lender when they do their 0% promotions. So I may not be able to avoid Chase in the future. Ugh.

Sorry to hear Skorp!
Your BK will fall off next year, I’d just hold tight if I were you. It could make a difference.
Actually I am kinda you....mine falls off next year too 😂.

Apped for Amazon Prime VISA. I knew I’d be auto declined with a 2012 BK. Called in for reconsideration, put on hold, asked verification questions, put on hold, then told I had a Chase product charged off in 2014. This is absolutely not true. My credit file is clean other than my BK. I would certainly remember something as recent as 4 years ago. Anyways, declined for the charge off. I wanted the specifics of the charge off, and was transferred to customer service, but hung up and called back for a 2nd recon. No go. Both reps were not friendly. Now I see why Chase has a bad reputation with customer service. I have some excellent prime cards. I will never find Chase my business. In the meantime, I’ll find out about that bs chargeoff.
Hard to blame Chase given their current BK policy plus the fact of going intot it knowing the application would be auto-denied.
As @CreditCuriosity mentioned earlier, as far as the charge-off, it could be associated with any predecessor bank that Chase would've acquired over the years. It would also include, Bank One, First Chicago/NBD, First USA, Chemical Bank, etc. Is it possible you were an AU on someone else's CC at some point? Hopefully Chase can provide you more insight on the CO account.

Not all lenders work for everyone, but I've had no major issues with them for 25+ years - even when they were all separate entities.
