Very strange.. I still have not received a telephone call back... *wow*
Maybe the backdoor number that I used from googling wasn't a good enough number. Could that be a possibility?
@Anonymous wrote:I have a BofA Visa Rewards card and have a question I am hoping someone could assist me with.
This card has an annual fee of $39.
What would be the chances of switching this card to another BofA visa but without the yearly fee? And how would one go about doing so?
It would be great if the amount of time that I have had this card would transfer over to the new card so it won't show as a brand new card and then offset my AAoA.
Thanks in advance for your insights.
I just did this with Capital One today. I e-mailed a high up muckity muck I found on the internet asking for my CO Secured Card AF to be removed this morning at 9:30am. Tonight at 7:30pm est, a lady from his office called me at home and said they were removing my AF of $29 and refunding the $29 I paid last year as a credit to my account. I'm sure they'll get to you soon enough. CO isn't BofA, but they want your business. Good Luck!
Thanks guys,
I just sent off an email to BoA's CEO Brian Moynihan, and will report back at another date once I hear something. I did state in my email that if my request could not be honored, that I would pay off what I owe, close out the card, and take my business to another financial instution, but I would hate to do that. We shall see how this goes. Now I am beginning to think that I probably should have sent him an email in the first place, but we all live and we learn ;-)
I received a telephone call today from BofA. The person indicated that theywere calling in regards to my email to the CEO. The rep stated that I would receive another call on Monday in regards to the issues that I wrote in my email.
Thanks for the idea to write the CEO, and I will keep you posted on how this ultimately turns out.
12/8/2015 - Update - Received a followup call this afternoon. BofA has indicated that they will not waive the fee. The extent of the conversation lasted about 5 minutes. The rationale I was given was that that was the card that I signed up for, and there was no way it could be changed.
I am supposed to receive anther call tomorrow from the person who was assigned my case on yesterday. She indicated she would call me back on Wednesday to check on things. But also told me yesterday (Monday), that the only was they could raise the credit limit, was with a hard pull (HP). I don't want a HP though. In my letter that I wrote the CEO, I indicated that I ask for no HP, a CLI, permanent removal of the annual fee, as well as a lower interest rate, and if not, then I would pay the monies owed currently, close the account, and take my business elsewhere.
So, I will hear what she has to say tomorrow, and I am fairly confident that I will take my business elsewhere.
*Geez oh man*
You may want to try a couple of times, maybe also through chat. I tried to get my BOA card annual fee removed and they said no (thru chat). But I have read of others getting it removed via chat, same card. So I am actually going to wait and keep trying periodically. Also, after they said no, they credited me 7.50 on my annual fee.
I got my $39 annual fee credited last year by contacting BofA by Twitter Direct Message to the Social Media team. I plan on doing it again in Jan when the next AF will show up on my statement.

Hey mbla,
Thanks for your info. I have a twitter account, but don't really use it. I have tried to tweet VerizonWireless support, but never ever ever have I gotten a response. And I've tweeted them at least 20 times over the course of a year or so.
Would you happen to recall the specific twitter group you used previously? It might be that I wasn't doing it the right way with VerizonWireless, and this might spill over into BofA.
Thanks in advance.
