Re: InFirst CU

I had forgotten about this post. Guess nobody has any info on it. I'll dig around our internets and googles to see what I can find.

Re: InFirst CU

Lol, ive learned my lesson on CU's. Their nice to have but you gotta come correct , imo, best have a good income to make them work for you . Hope you find what you're looking for Dj.

There is actually a local CU where i live and was thinking about joining but their cc is blah at most. Reading up on how if you dont use it in awhile or try buying things they consider out of norm, how easy theyd shut it down. Fraud prevention i understand but figuring even if i got it, the rewards are blah so i wouldnt use it often so whats the point of getting itSmiley Wink

Re: InFirst CU

The same in my necking the woods, the CU 's are blah at best. Some treat you like dirt and have starter credit cards for all.

Re: InFirst CU

Thx AJC-Not really looking for anything tho. Half the time I write questions or post things just for knowledge or because it's nice to learn about different products than the same Disco, Amex, Chase, Citi, Pended, Navy, Synch, Comenity.... etc.
I like reading articles online about different unheard of or rare cards-things like that. I thought once I finished repairing my credit I would be done with boards and things of that nature but I truly enjoy this stuff and find it interesting. I had forgotten I posted back in March until the reply today.

Re: InFirst CU

I emailed these guys a while back asking about which bureau they pulled for membership, if they reused, etc, and this was their response:

=====

Good Morning,

Thank you for your interest in InFirst FCU.  We do pull a credit report through Experian at the time of account opening.  If you are applying for a loan at the same time of account opening, we will not pull another report.

Typically, credit reports are valid for 60 days but we can, at our discretion, pull a new report anytime there is a credit application submitted.

Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,

Cathy Long

Member Service Manager

InFirst FCU

=============

The "at our discretion" caveat was interesting. I'm sure that's probably a very common case, but they're the first ones that have responded and actually been specific about that. The card's reward structure is interesting, but the only thing I don't like is that you appear to have to use the points for "stuff" from the CURewards website. Unfortunately, when you're browsing, they don't tell you how many points you need for anything, so it's hard to tell how bad they're inflating the prices.

Personally, I prefer more flexible points (MR, TY, UR), or cash back as rewards.
