Intel for Western Federal CU / Unify applicants

---: Thank you for contacting your Credit Union. My name is Analisha and I’m pleased to let you know we are transitioning our name from Western to UNIFY Financial Credit Union.
---- How may I help you?
you: preparing to apply for multiple products... is it one application or multiple applications, what is the usual turn around time for your loan products, and what is the bare minimum credit score to get the best rates?
----: Each loan product is a different application with the turn around from 2 to 48 business hours depending on what time of day you apply. The minimum score that we accept is a 550, however we do factor in other things before we approve or denie a loan
you: i want the best rates. so need to make sure my profile is what you guys require. I understand there are other factors but whats the top credit score tier number? Thats usually my baseline when considering doing business wih credit unions. I always make sure to ask so I can plan accordingly
----: Please see attached for today's rates.
----: https://www.western.org/loan-rates
you: yes, i have already checked out the rates..so you have no information on the minimum credit score that gives a chance to be considered for the best rates?
you: its okay if you dont know
----: If you want the best rate possible then you will need to have a 740 or higher
you: awesome.. You guys pull experian?
you: can you also explain to me what the spring loan is? just trying to understand what the loan can not be used for. It looks attractive because of the low APR of 2.99
---: Yes we sure do use Experian
----: It is a personal loan that cannot be used to pay off debt
you: what can it be used for?
----: Anything that is not debit consolidation
you: can it be used to pay regular bills?
you: is that defined as debt?
----: Yes, just not credit card consolidation or student loan consolidation
----: We have a debt consolidation loan something like that
you: or pay off higher rate personal loans for that matter?
-----: That is a debt consolidation loan
you: gotcha
you: do i have any limitations on applying for products before opening an account?
---- no
you: i intend to apply for at least 2 products, but i see the application takes only one product at a time. there is no sub-menu to check off for other products.. each product will have to be applied for separately?
----: Yes each product will need its own an application
you: is each application a separate credit pull, or all applications work off one pull?
----: yes each will pull your credit
you: how long is that pull valid for, such that if i decide to apply for anythign else, there isnt anothe rpull?
you: thats not nice!! most credit unions use one pull for multiple products...can you confirm please?
---: one moment
---- After speaking with our loan specialist, I was advised that each time you submit an application the system will automatically pull your credit for that application
you: interesting... i guess i will restrict myself to one application then...thanks for your time. I really appreciate it. Cheers!

Re: Intel for Western Federal CU / Unify applicants

I'll say this they 'mean' well but they can be a little slow on trigger.

They are junior high, where ppl on this forum are running like college juniors Smiley Wink

After speaking to them and visting a branch...I can confirm the above poster's info

the only add on is they will allow you to use the same HP for an entire WEEK....to app for another product.

And 740 is the top tier of 18 tiers (yeah 18) with 550 being the cut-off to basically getting anything thru these guys.

Again, very, very nice folks just a bit on the Mayberry side ...oh btw they are open to everyone.

Re: Intel for Western Federal CU / Unify applicants

I'm a member of Western FCU. I haven't applied for any credit cards yet. It is my understanding that they verify income on all credit apps btw so be ready to send in paystubs.

Re: Intel for Western Federal CU / Unify applicants

Yes, been with Western/UNIFY a full year now...LOVE THEM.  Their UW gave me my first chance at an unsecured CC a year ago at $500, when all i had was Fingerhut and a 540 score lol.  One year later I'm at a whopping $10,000!!  They DO SCRUTINIZE income docs -- so be prepared indeed !!!  Fine toothed comb on all apps.

Credit cards have decent BT promos, and they allow you to Cash Advance up to your limit into your checking and NO CA FEE!!!!!  So you can basically write yourself s loan anytime you need it, and pay back like a LOC....my interest rate is only 10% so not awful - same rate for charges and cash advances.  Love this CU overall.  Good luck

I fnally pulled the trigger... Apped for 20K CC and 20K LOC couple of weeks ago.. Thy gaveme a choice of either or.

Picked the LOC given the flexibility. Score was 685 or something of the sort. 8.4% APR

Very nice folks.. Not so good on auto though... they tried to selll me a 4.99 rate so I passed on that one..

And yes, i can confirm pull valid for a whole week.  I apped for the auto exactly 7 days later with no extra pulls.
