Re: Is Amex inquiry sensitive on new applications?

Congrats on your increase popamode. I remain hopeful. Baller4 life sparked new interest in discover cli's. I had all but given up on discover after one HP for a $500 cli. They got me good on that one.

Re: Is Amex inquiry sensitive on new applications?

I don't see why you would loose them due to a denial.. Alot of existing members get Amex Denials and don't go through a FR... Who knows you might even get your CLI in July as well..  Sorry about the denial, but it was a SP at least!  I would still try for the 3x CLI in july as they can request Tax Forms, but that isn't a FR.. It they request you can provide it and possibly get the increase if you don't won't to then no harm and you just don't get the CLI.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I hope not to lose them, but if it must be it's okay.  I'll still try for the cli in July.  It may take me another 18 mnths to get one like this last one I got in January 2015.  I have nothing to lose

DENIED.  Too many inquiries in the last 6 months and something about my loan balances.  I opened up two auto loans last year.  It was a SP decline from April 15, 2015.  I guess I can hang up that Amex CLI request in July 2015 Smiley Indifferent  If Amex wants to hammer me with a FR after this, my days with Amex are over,  I have a couple partner Amex cards.  I used to be top heavy with Amex but not so much anymore.  Maybe a loss of 25.1k is looming.Smiley Embarassed

Why are you afraid of a FR? Are you hiding something?

Not afraid of anything. I have plenty of credit that I can be selective if I so choose.

Re: Is Amex inquiry sensitive on new applications?

Decided to call the Executive Offices regarding Hilton Honors Surpass card.  EO said that I should not have had to do an application for the Hilton Honors and could have simply upgraded the Hilton Honors card that I have.  I asked if I upgraded would I be eligible for the 50,000 points.  EO said yes.  I said go ahead and upgrade me.  Mysteriously, when I tried to upgrade online before and after the application, it said I am no eligible.  EO said they would also reinstate the American Express that I closed.  I asked if I would be able to move the $500 credit limit over to the Hilton Honors Surpass.  EO said I should be able to once the card has been reinstated.  I don't know about that since Amex has always told me that I had to leave a minimum of $500 on an open card that I was reallocating from.  We'll see.  At any point, this all worked out since I didn't have to take that HP after all.  I'll have over 100,000 points with my existing points plus the bonus points.

@balboa,

This worked out better than I planned. Hopefully, I can get that $500 moved over too. If not, no big deal
