Is Amex prequal site a bit goofy, or is it just me?

The past few days, I have noticed that now, when I check the Amex prequal, nothing pops, but when I click Apply for ANY card, I get the "Andy, you're pre-approved" banner, and only asked the income questions. No hard APR tho. Also, about 15-20 seconds after the application page loads, the site asks if I want to "Log out or Continue".... That I presume is where the "pre-approved" part falls through. ha ha

Anyone else getting the same behavior?

I don't think prequalifications have anything to do with your credit report, only what Amex believes to be your interests and income/DTI. Amex prequalifications are meaningless other than perhaps offering better sign-up bonuses, particularly incognito.

Amex preapprovals are legit. They have similar names but are not the same and shouldn't be confused with each other.

Yes, I agree with what you're saying. I was not intending otherwise.

I was more so implying that the site seemed to be acting up for me, as it would ask me to log out with pop ups until I close out the window. Thought I'd ask if anyone else was having issues with the Amex site.

I agree their approvals are legit. But most often I never see the "pre-approval" without a hard APR to go with it. Sorry for the confusion I may have caused with my first post.

Always check in incognito mode because the cookies mess with the offers.  Just login to check or if you're applying skip the login and just hit submit for the higher bonus.

Pre qualify is very legit. I had some issues with them in the past even a settlement and applied for a Delta Gold got approved for $1K then a few weeks later I applied for Hilton Honors got approved for $1K.
