Is BECU new account and inquiry sensitive. Opened checking and saving with them a few weeks ago and am looking
to add the cash back card and a PLOC. Have five TU inquiries and 5x12 accouts. Score around 710.
From my experience they aren't sensitive at all and they're pretty generous with credit limits!
I went into a BECU branch two weeks ago to join as i live out of state but was by a branch on business. Opened a checking and savings with $10. Fast forward two weeks, apply for the cash back card and PLOC. Approved for both.
$20,000 SL on the CC and $10,000 on the PLOC. I was pretty happy. 24 hours later, account restricted and i am told they are requesting a copy of my ID, SSN, Paystubs, Tax return and a utility bill? Seemed odd as i already presented my ID and SSN card in the branch. Fraud dept stated they needed additional verificaton. Anyone else experience this?
Not really way out of the ordinary when applying for credit with a credit union in general but definitely not out of the ordinary with BECU especially since you are from out of state.
I did not have to provide a copy of a tax return or authorize a 4506-T request however.
They didnt request a 4506-T just a copy of the return.
Makes me wonder offhand if you are self-employed. If so that isn't a deal-breaker but the process they go through can be more complicated.
They went through a mini-wave of popularity among members here maybe a bit less than 2 years ago. A few of them discovered the hard way that they are no-nonsense about wanting what information they want before granting an approval unless you work with them to come up with an acceptable alternative.
IMO they have their act together and are worth going through a bit of effort to get embedded with.

As mentioned upthread, these [BECU] requests for additional information are not out of the ordinary, especially if you're an out-of-state applicant. These 'conditional' approvals will stay in that status until you provide and they verify the additional documents they've requested.
Thanks everone for the information. I will collect all they have requested, submit and keep everyone updated with the final outcome.

What was the outcome of this @Anonymous?
Was approved after several verification requests.
