So, I unlocked my experian account and did a pre qualify on Dell's site and was pre qualified for $5000. I went ahead and pull the plug, as my computer is ready to die.....Well low and behold, I was denied. I was mad that I took the credit hit and was denied.
I finally got the letter from Web Bank and it says:
Notice of Denial
Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your recent credit application to open a revolving credit accouunt. We regret that we are unable to open an account because we cannot verify information submitted on the application.
Your Right to Get Your Consumer Report
In evaluating your application the consumer reporting agency listed below provided us with information that in whole or in part influenced our decision. The consumer reporting agency played no part in our decision and is unable to supply specific reasons why we have denied credit to you....then it tells me I have the right to look at my report and says to contact Experian.
So my question is, should I call them and try to get them to reconsider? It's one thing to be denied, but to be told they couldn't verify information.....It's driving me crazy! To take the credit hit for this reason!!!! What would you guys do???
Yes, calling them to clarify the situation is the next step. Identity verification is an important part of credit applications. It's in your best interest for them to go slow if they are uncertain, and to speak directly with you before granting credit.
Often these situations are simple matters to resolve. Let us know what you find out, and how you proceed. Good luck, my Dell Financial account is one of my most used, over the last two years.
Did you place any fraud alerts on your CR ?
Moved or changed address ?
You should call in and find out what info they need as the pre=approval is usually pretty accurate in my experience.
@CountryLivin -- unfortunately, they're not known for reconsideration unless they were able to verify your identity or the information on the application. Reference this recent thread:
From the sound of it seems there is an issue either accessing your Secondary CRs or something doesn't match between your Primary and Secondaries (LexisNexis, Sagestream, Innovis). We know they can access your Primary (Experian) because they were able to do a SP to give you an offer followed by the HP. Most likely the issue can be cleared up from DPs in the thread linked by @FinStar .
