hi all,
I recently applied for a barclays rewards mastercard and i was denied. The denial letter states that a previous credit card account i held with them experienced a charge off and or other negative performance. Has anyone burned them in the past and been able to get back in, and if so how long did it take. They just fell of my transunion report last month.

It wouldn't matter if it fell off your reports as they would still have a record of it. People have gotten back in with them but it all varies with many factors.

I would think that after 7 years they would forgive. Did u pay the debt back? I can't see your FICO cause I'm on mobile but depending on stats you could recon
There have been many stories here with folks waiting 10+ years to get back in with some lenders (not saying Barclays here but in general). Some are a tad more jilted than others, so date wisely.
I did not pay the debt back, but it has fallen off of my report. Should i still pay or just wait it out?

You may have a tough time getting back with a lender that you still owe money to. How much was it for?
In my experience, they're not very forgiving. When I've applied in the past they won't even pull a CR...just flat denial due to past account chargeoff.
I go through the same, they are not pulling my credit report anymore, just flat out denial.

This was my experience last summer when I applied for Sallie Mae... no credit pull, and a letter a few days later.
In my case, the account they are referring to was an old Juniper Bank account that was transitioned over to Barclays right around when it was charged off (same situation happened with my Providian/Wamu account being C/O'd right when it transitioned to Chase... ugh). While I was disappointed, I appreciated that they didn't bother with a HP.
A few folks suggested at the time that I should try to recon, but that's just not for me (personal preference). There are many good lenders out there, and no need to 'beg' one to let me do business with them, even (and especially) if I was the one originally at fault.
Just my 2¢.

Same here. I burned Juniper a long time ago and Barclay stills holds it against me. But like you, I don't bother with recon...if I'm denied I deal with it and move on with my life...not going to call and beg anyone for anything. If my reason for being denied is something I can work on (I.e. Scores, inquiries, etc) then I'll take that into consideration if I decide to apply again...but I can't change the fact that I filed a Ch. 13...it is what it is and I'm okay with it. Like you mentioned...there are lots of other lenders out there besides Barclays.
