I agree... I was going to suggest an Amex like now but with the collection I am not sure yet.  That comcast bill, how much was it?  Also, follow up and have it removed from all reports before we put out heads together a strategic apping...  You need a few more revolvers for your profile if your ultimate goal is a mortgage.

Don't apply for anymore credit until you get that Comcast deleted. For reals. I got a comcast bill paid for removal and I wish I had checked my real score before, but after it had been deleted my fico score was 755 and I apped for amex and a few others. Do anything to get those baddies removed, totally worth it. I'm saving up to buy a house too nod trying to establish good credit history. All about the end game. Youre ahead of the game already with NFCU, that's my next stop sometime this year.

Comcast was $312 AND when I had the account looked up to pay it we found two other small ones not paid I have paid them ALL in full.

What is differant about a Amex, Chase, or Discover Card over a Visa or Mastercard from a bank?

I think he could get approved with Amex with the collection.  We need for him to get his EX score up

I would be surprised if amex overlooked a collection. But if they want a mortgage, they need to take care of these things like baddies regardless. Why not have a crystal clear CR when you start apping for new CLs.

Only reason I said about the collection is I've seen some people get approved with one but of course the odds are much better without it.  You very right about the mortgage.  They certainly don't overlook them.

So stop all future Credit applications until everything goes off my Credit report? I guess I can wait another 7-10 years for a Home I waited this long. To be honest owning my own home scares me hehe I just wanted a place I don't have to ask permission to hang a picture or build a Observatory for my telescopes. I have rented all my life Just wanted to try to get a Home before I was too old to enjoy it but is far from being a necessity just a dream really. I live alone with my Service Dog Just got it in my head recently that I have paid over $50,000 in Rent here and could have had that going into my own Home.

No one is saying you have to wait 7-10 years.  There are ways to deal with collections (a visit to the rebuilding forum will help there).  What kind of dog?  Service dogs are amazing

EdwardMH,

You have come to the right forum and won't wait that long.  The collection seems to weigh your score done although it is not the only thing lenders look at. But it will be safer to have that removed from the reports.  Since you have paid it in full, what is comcast saying?  Also, is your NFCU reporting yet?  Because I don't see it on the profile..
