Is a Navy Fed and Amex CLI Possible?

Hi guys, I have Experian scores at 699 and TU at 639. I have 10 cards and 2 with a balance. My Apple card is at 50% usage. My PSECU is at 50% as well.  No lates.  I'd like to get a 6 month CLI for both cards. My last successful CLI was in June.  I'm at 8,000 on Navy and want to double it to 16000. I'm at 12,000 on Amex and want to take it to 20,000. So at the end of the month I want to get another CLI.  Is this wishful thinking or can I pull the trigger with confidence?

Considering that both NFCU and AMEX CLI requests are softpulls, I would say go for it. Even if you do not get the max requested, they could counteroffer. I requested a CLI on my Navy cashRewards ($9,000 to $15,000) and was automatically approved. Per others that have posted on their Navy CLI, $8,000 seems to be the max (I didnt know that at the time of my request).

Good luck!

If I were in your shoes I would request a cli on the navy card i want it the most on first.

Also just thinking june was 6 months ago is a bit flawed , what i do is check my statement dates on my account page to make sure 6 full statements have elapsed since the date of last cli.

Hopefully you have a record of the exact date you were last granted a cli on these cards, i get out a calender and count the days since then. some people say 181 days but some people say 185 days, good luck

I have the exact CLI date for NFCU. It was on the 23rd of June.  I can't find the exact date for AMEX. It was within the same week though.  I guess I should shoot for CLI after Christmas? In my dreams I would have both of them at or near 20K. That seems like a good manageable number.

Thanks MrBEW.  I will try them first and try AMEX second.

The reason my utilization is so high is because I put my school expenses on my PSECU card @ 9%.  I tried for a student loan and could not get one.  I had TU scores at 770 and Experian at 730 and still got a refusal.  I only have 1 year left to complete my degree and I didn't want to drop out to go back to work.  My understanding is that private school loans have very high rates and the 9% on my CU card is about as good as it gets.  The only downside is it shoots my utilization up and I have to paymonthly to service the debt.  Normally, I don't carry balances.

Its fairly easy to see your statement start and end dates if you look at the statements in your online NFCU account. Just make sure you are applying after 6 full statements have elapsed and at least 181 days since your last cli.

I am a bit confused when you post about Amex, is the Amex a Navy cc too?

To be safe I would wait a few days after the 23rd if you have 6 full statements since then. Make sure you request the cli via your online account page for a soft pull. If you call in for a cli they will hit you with a hard pull.

As an example the last time i requested a cli on my Navy cash rewards I was 6 full statements and 212 days.

The AmEx is in reference to their BCE, not with NFCU.

Sorry, my bad. It's an acronym for one of their cards ... Blue Cash Everyday
