Is it that you are never pre-approved while having a bankruptcy on your record?

I have several credit cards. Pay them all on time. Never had issues with my credit cards. Got the AMEX BCP, Schwab investor card, and several others. My bankruptcy falls off in 2026. Every time I apply for a pre-approval I get denied in everything but then I apply either way and get the card! For AMEX I applied for the Schwab investor card and was denied a pre-approval. I applied either way and got the card. The same with the BCP & the US Bank Altitude go, and so on.... I got denied for Chase Sapphire Preferred then called and was told by Chase I wasn't denied due to my bankruptcy but because I passed the 5/24.

Theres only a few that are pretty much solid and will approve. If your files are frozen could be another reason mostly.

Same story here I get pre-approved by Amex but that's pretty much it. I have only been denied outright once apping for cards even with a bk7 showing and I believe that was Chase before I realized there was a 5/24 rule.

It may also be only lenders who you had debt with when you filed for bankruptcy.
