Re: Is macys cli a soft pull?

Hi Sweetbee ...myself 40 year cardholder. Yep, got it when I was a kid. Fast forward to today...the website has always said that (the phrase you posted) since Citi Retail took over a few years back. I never pressed the CLI button, because I did not want an inquiry. Besides, I have had my card so long they should just give me auto CLIs often, but that never has happened. Anyway, read many posts on here regarding Macys CLIs, most saying soft pulls. So I called and spoke to CSR. I told her the same thing I wrote here, long time cadholder, CLIs should be automatic, and I want one, but no HP. She said she understood and "Let me pull up my Tools". She said oh yes you are eligible wtht no HP. She asked how much I wanted, I gave her a high figure, she countered and it was large enough so I said OK and  Thank you.  That was last week, and true to her word no HP INQ any bureau and the increase was immediate.  My point here, I think you should call and not take the chance with web site.  Hope that helps.

Re: Is macys cli a soft pull?

I believe the only HP with this card is when you apply for an upgrade to the Amex version.  Every time I go in the store and use the card they ask if I would like to upgrade to the Amex.  I ask if it is just a simple upgrade.  Some say yes, but upon questioning it really isn't.  If they say it is an application, then I ask if it is a HP.  Some have no idea what that means, those that do tell me yes.  (They might be wrong, but I do have a feeling they aren't.)

I'll take the Amex when it is a SP, just because, but until then why waste a HP since I am happy with the regular card.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.
