How much will you fly AA? I travel a lot for work and American is the main airline for most of my flights out of my little airport. Most of my spending for work is reimbursed so it's free miles for me. I prefer Alaska to AA, but I can use the AA flights to obtain Alaska elite status. So for me the card works out. I upgraded to the Silver version and use it for any non Marriott hotels that I stay as well.
